Since I am going to be taking a machine shop class and need to learn how to rebuild, port and polish everything I am looking to build an extreme motor.

I have read some stuff about 2.3 and 2.4 liter strokers but they all seem to have totally different "opinions about what is good and what is not.

I have heard more bad things about 2.4 than good but everyone who is going fast is all running a 2.3 from what I have read on here.

Anyway I was wondering what I should build. I might sell or just hang onto this motor for a future build.

I am really leaning more towards a 2.3 and am wondering what I should know before buying parts for the build.

There are 2 different setups for a a 2.3L stroker. A 7-bolt one starts with a 4g63 block and uses a 100mm crank out of the 4g64. You can also do a 6-bolt version using a g4cs crank in a 6-bolt 4g63. You use the connecting rods from the 2.0L engine and pistons made for a stroker. Several vendors sell kits that would give you all the parts you need.

The 2.4L isn't a stroker. It's either a 4g64 (7-bolt) or g4cs (6-bolt).

There is a 2.6L stroker though. It's a custom package through BC (that's the only one I know of) that uses a 4g64 block.

Sweet thanks for the info. I'll probably go with a 6 bolt then.

What about the head? I would like to do something high reving but I don't really know much yet is there any down sides to a high reving stroker? Plus what are the limitations and what would I need to get there?

what equipment will you have acess too? brand name ? model number?

you understand that you have to be crazy to even work on cars... and just totally insane to even be a machinist?? LOL

I been doing automotive machine work since 1992... its getting to be a lost art...
