well my car is driving me nuts. everytime i think i can get her back on the road after rebuild something comes up. so heres whats up. when i get in the car and turn the key. it cranks but it won't turn over. every turn brings me closer to it turning on, after about the 5th crank you can hear the motor trying to turn over. you hear the exhaust fire then die quicky. about 5 turns later she starts right up. as soon as i give her gas she falls on her face and dies. i guess i have to let it warm up a little. once its warmed up a little i give it a little gas like 3k and let off it, it just dies. don't know whats up. please help.

Car blows high about of like white looking smoke. everything is brand new.i was thinking turbo but it blows at all times not just under boost. i think it might be running a little rich. could i be right. any help would be great:cry:

Mine has the same starting problem, though with a Walbro fuel pump. Since that doesn't have an integrated check valve like the stock Denso, it's possible that the fuel is backing out the line (into the tank) and the air/vapor in the line needs to be cleared completely before the fuel will pressurize right. No smoking problem on mine. Are you running with an AFPR, or just the upgraded pump?

I suffer from the same problem, although after little idle the car runs fine. I get an error code 42 (fuel pump). There's a recent thread about this topic on this forum.

Do you get any error codes? Or does the CE-light even light up?

I have the fuel pump check engine code, and posted about it in the problem diagnosis forum previously. New fuel pump, and I checked to make sure that pin 13 was getting voltage (like it should, what causes DTC42 to be thrown is when the ECU doesn't see pin 13 go high when the fuel pump is supposed to be on). Had 13V at the ECU connector. But this isn't about getting the nightmare CEL to finally bugger off.

I'm planning to grab an in-line eBay fuel check valve and put it between the fuel pump and the fuel rail input. If the fuel is backing down the fuel lines into the tank (filling the fuel line with just vapor) that should fix the hard starting at least.

Let us know then how it works... I kinda doubt that it will help the cold starting. Atleast in my case I only have to crank for one second, and the fuel pressure gauge shows enough pressure. Why won't the car turn over the second time when cranking, though there is pressure? Neither the third, nor the fourth time... fifth time it might start if you're lucky.
