ok i looked at the other topics but no help ### not the same... sorry. first i have a 1991 eagle talon tsi awd that i bought for 1500 and it has a few mods but im not sure on all of them. well the problem is that the car starts and idles alittle but if you give it gas and try to drive it dies. it started when the guy i bought it from let some idiot over boost it and when he did that it popped off one of the intercooler pipes and died on them well they towed it home and after that the problem started. the guy checked the compression and he said that was fine he checked the valve sprigs there ok he checked to make sure the intercooler pipes were all on and tightened. he thinks that it might be that an injector came out but i dont think that could be possible ### the car wouldnt start and you could see the gas fly everywhere. im not sure what it could be. ### help. thanks

The ECM plug is in the dash fuse box not the one under the hood top right hand side of the panel chances are the clip just broke and its hangin up in the wires or behind the panel. I still think its the pump pressure test takes 30 seconds to do.

no i havent looked for leakage on the ECM. and to answer stevo911 yes i have looked at the fuse box under the dash and it not there or behind it becuase i took the fuse box off to check and nothing. i dont but ill look elsewhere. thanks guys for the help so far.

ok im to fixing my car. ive been moving to a new house and all that stuff. well i was told to check my isc and tps so i did and well on my isc all pairs read 1.5 ohms on my analog ohm reader. and as for my tps it didnt read anything but i think thats because my car battery is DEAD!!!! but that could be why my isc only reads 1.5 ohms also. could any of these be the cause of my problem? and as for checking my fuel pressure i cant cause i dont have the money to buy one for AutoZone (149.99) the cheaper ones wont work for my car is what they said cause of the adaptors wont fit so i said NO way im i paying that much.

ok i have pulled out the ECM and checked the board and the cables and everthing looks almost brand new. i also had the isc checked out and they said it is good. but still not sure about the tps but im going to check with a digital ohm meter this time not an analog ohm reader so that might make a difference.

ok the tps reads fine so those two are out. now on to more things

ok ill do BLT again and see what happens. thanks

+2 not to overkill but this sounds like a boost leak issue times a jillion

Either a boost leak or a bad MAF is the only two things I could think of that would make it act like this.

+1 Unless of course bad fuel pump

ok can someone tell me what kind of MAF this is cause i dont think its stock but not sure and can someone tell me how to test it and how to test the fuel pump without buy a 149.99 fuel pressure tester. thanks

p.s.
the numbers on the MAF sticker are: 609 7924

sorry i forgot to mention its a mitsubishi MAF

ok i did the BLT with soapy water and found three so far two are were the connectors meet the inter cooler itself and the other one is one the throttle body were it has that bent tubing with four bolts (mine only has two on the left side) so i figure on the right side is not tight enough cause of the missing bolts.

yes i unplugged it for the pic but now that i have that leak on the whole right side of the throttle duct thing im starting to think that the culprit but i wont know for sure till i get the screws and fix that leak.

i havent checked any wires really but that might help. thanks for the advice bluefire16

ok now my car wont start i took out the ECM and now there is a click when i try to start the car so i found where the click is coming from and its a square metal thing with wires going to it behind the left side of the ECM if your looking at from the driver sit. it clicks and nothing happens all the lights work and everything else to it just wont start. what did i do wrong? how can i fix it?

i believe this is the starter relay but im not sure. how can i test it to see if its bad? is there a way to bypass this so i can start my car and start fixing it and doing more tests with it on. thanks

ok well i took it out of the car and found out that the plug that goes to this relay is burnt so i then took metal casing off the relay to see if it had been damaged and it looks brand new nothing is frayed or melted so then i reconnected the relay without the casing and turned the key and saw that were the plug is burnt it sparks blue. ok so now i need to replace the plug and not the relay which means less out of my wallet (i think anyways). but still if there is a way to bypass this PLEASE tell me how to. thanks a lot

i found out that its the MPI control relay (whatever that means?) ok so now i need to know what it does and how to bypass it if possible also dose anyone know a site were i could buy the plug that goes to it? the relay is fine the wires are bad.

ok i have some pix of the plug here. now in one of the pix with the wires they have a red jumper wire and you cant see it in the pic but were the jumper wire is thats were the short is but only on that side not both sides of the red wire now does that mean the power output on that side is to high or does it mean something is lose in the wiring?

well i took the red jumper wire off and it changed nothing so im at a lose here. is the only thing to do is change the wire harness? and how can i test the MPI itself i mean it looks new and all and there is nothing wrong with the wires in it that i can see but you never know or at least i dont.

i think he did cause he put ALOT of money in this car it may not look like it but it has a lot of upgrades and he even had the warranties and papers for ever little thing he had put on it.

ok and now when i press the clutch in you have to almost be at the floor already and the clutch play is about ten feet ok not that bad but its getting there. i think its because the car has been sitting and maybe it needs to be bleed out but i dont know how to do that or if thats the problem. well thanks for helping so far everyone
