Hi all!
I'm on my way trying to fix the car and make it a good street build.
Right now the car has the stock turbo manifold with a "MCGiver" welded to it, so now it has a subaru-style turbo

I know I can search for another turbo manifold, but the t3 that they are selling me is just $40

Looking at the dimensions, it should fit on the space available but it will need a slim fan on the radiator

I'm wondering if a "billet street performance" t3 from maxpeeding will do the trick for a fun daily, I have only driven slow cars so I think 380hp will be way too much power for me haha. Is there a "small" t3 that will spool fast enough to not feel the car laggy?
And also, and I think is my main concern, since most of the t3 the I have found are just oil cooled, will the stock turbo oil line work for this? I'm not sure if the flow will be enough or if a problem like that can occur.
Right now the downpipe has a 5 bolt flange, so I think I will be searching for that in a turbo.

In the future, and whenever I mount the t3, I will also install supporting mods and a standalone ECU because I like the idea of removing the factory MAF

I would like to hear your comments since I am a noobie and want to learn as much as possible

If your goals are around 300ish you can pick up a stock 2g manifold for about that and a used authentic 16g that bolts right on for about the price of a China turbo like mentioned would get you there with proper support and bolting to the car like it’s meant to be there. Cheap knockoff t3 manifolds and China chargers like the maxpeeding stuff have their place for the right user, however you can do that reliably and inexpensive with parts that bolt right on to the car while undoing all of the hackery that’s going on there. Shoot I’d opt for a 14b off a 1g or even the stock 2g t25 over what’s there now.

There are good parts still out there for a simple set up hit up Justin for a 14 b or classifieds for parts and you'll be set.

So, in this case the better idea would be to stick to the bolt on OEM stuff?
I have seen that the turbo "4G63 Eclipse Td05H Big 16G Turbo Evo 1 2 3 Dsm 1G 2G Td05 Td05-H 4G63/4G63T 2.0L" is a really cheap alternative, and there is nothing up to the $600 dollar range, because the others that are similar, are just rebranded chinese turbos. I have seen that the main problem with those chinese turbos is the wastegate, but that can be fixed by porting the hole in a sort of D shape to avoid the wastegate being opened all the time. Is that a sensible approach? Also, I'm wondering which clutch would be needed for the increase hp, again, the absolute maximum being 400hp.

That turbo you seen listed as such is a Chinese copy of an authentic Mitsubishi Heavy Industries 16g. For 180 bucks they’re like any other Chinese turbo, they’ll work until they don’t. There’s a few used authentic MHI 16g’s for sale on the classifieds here right now for fair market price. Just for a point of reference, if it says “TURBOCHARGER” engraved on the compressor cover you can bet it’s a cheap Chinese turbo. I won’t go to say a knockoff 16g won’t perform the same as the ones I’ve used felt like any other 16g, but what I can say is a used one in good condition will likely out live a China clone new out of the box.

As you mentioned the wastegate passage is much smaller on the Chinese turbine housing, this isn’t an issue if you were to use it at full tilt but makes for maintaining low boost a problem without porting it. I actually prefer the Chinese turbine housing and adjustable gate actuator over the authentic MHI one but that doesn’t go without a little work. On the plus side while the passage is smaller they include a nice big wastegate flapper installed that works well for maintaining low boost when the passage is ported as it allows you to open that passage up more, but again is irrelevant if you were to use it where a 16g really shines.

Have you looked around for a clutch there are several companies that make them to suit your needs, try any vendor and it includes information or, email them or call and they can help you. Thats why we support our vendors .

Thanks for helping me on this one!
I have another question. My engine has a severe case of crankwalk, and I'm planning to fix it in this year, for me the cost of shipping+taxes would put the crank at almost $1200, so I'm considering other options.
So, there is this 3g eclipse 2.4L engine a 4g64 for sale and I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to do a 4g64 bottom end with 4g63t head. I imagine I would use the 4g64 crank, rods and pistons. I've searched and some 4g64 seem to have oil squirters but I'm not sure if this one has them. I'm also wondering which parts of the oil system are compatible? oil pump, oil filter housing?
