Hey, I picked up a t28 which I think came from someone on this forum...I got it from one of my buddies that bought it and changed his mind about it. Anyway, the compressor housing has the outlet cut and rewelded to expel straight down instead of curving over like the regular t25's and t28's do. So I'm wondering if I can just use my t25 compressor housing, or if the housings are different sizes. If it won't bolt right on, I'll just find another solution, but this would be the easiest.
Thanks,
Zach

Oh cool that's good news. So how does the housing come off? I only saw two bolts from the wastegate actuator...

Umm... are you sure? I'm mean I have a Forced Performance Big-28 turbo and I know that FP machines the T-25/T-28 compressor housing to fit a larger wheel (see attached pic from my gallery) in that turbo. But I thought the plain old Garrett T-28 turbo had the exact same compressor housing as the T-25; no machining/modifying needed. I don't know, I guess I could be wrong..

I can't say for sure that the T25 and T28 have different compressor housings, but I'd say almost for certain they're different. The compressor maps are different.

Why don't you just measure the inlet inner diameter on both (assuming you have a T25 to compare with) and look for other differences. You can also find thecompressor wheel inducer/exducer sizes in many places (I think www.vfaq.com has a list, but not sure if the T28 is there). If they're different between turbos, the housings will also be different.

And to change the compressor housing, check the vfaq turbo rebuild page. But I seriously doubt they can be swapped.

Make your life alot easier and just buy a silicone 90* elbow and rework your lower i.c. pipe. This way when you do step up to a short run fmic, your all set to go without having that retarded restrictive sharp elbow coming off the T28 compressor housing.

No no the T28 has been machined to fit the bigger wheel it will not work.

the interior of the housing is machined to fit the bigger compressor wheel and the T-25 will not fit on it...the T-28 would fit over a t-25 wheel but the clearance would cause the turbo to not be able to make any pressure what so ever.

Just have an elbow welded on it if that's what you want, a shop( machine shop, NOT a import shop ) should do it for no more than 80-90 bucks tops...honestly it should be a 40-60 dollar job at a "fair" price
