windsor,
Well since I can't post in the real technical sections I'm posting here. My name is Lucas and I have a 92 Eagle Talon TSi FWD.

Anyway, I'm new to DSMs and the 4G63 in general. I picked up a T04E turbo and manifold for fairly cheap, and I'm running into a few issues that I need a fix for.

The first being that since this is a strictly oil cooled turbo, I need to do something about the stock water lines. What is the best way to seal these off?

Secondly, I've been searching around, trying to find the best way to do the oil feed. I was planning on re-using the stock position from the head, but am having trouble finding a fitting or oil line kit to do this. I have read a lot of talk about re-locating the oil feed, as well, but what I have read and searched around is not completely clear.

If someone could point me in the correct direction that would be fantastic.

Thanks.

By"T04E turbo and manifold" I'm guessing the setup is of generic quality, much like those found on eBay. If that's the case, the first issue you're going to run into is that turbo's reliability.

Blocking water lines can be as simple as cutting the hoses short, putting 3/8" bolts into them and clamping the hoses to the bolts, or as complicated as finding a front water pipe from a non-turbo 4G63 to replace yours.

I would feed that turbo unrestricted from the head. I've had too many Garrett and Garrett-style turbos fail on me when fed from the filter housing. ExtremePSI sells lines with fittings to fit a 1G head:

EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - Oil Feedline Kit (Head Location): Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99

Can't beat the price or the service!

to be honest with ya. you could pull more power from your 14b then that turbo. (if car is in stock trim) what mods do you have? if not many. i would get your basic bolt ons first (full exhaust, new bov, boost controller intake) then worry about the turbo down the road.:talon:

+1 except on the new bov portion. The 1G is one of the better bov's out there.

Bigger turbos don't make more power. Bigger turbos with supporting modifications and tuning make more power. Those same supporting mods will make more than enough power for most people with smallish turbos like the 14b, and any of the 16g family.

Also, I have a TO4 compressor that flows less than a 14b. There are some TO4's that can make 7-800hp. Just saying T3/T4 or TO4 means pretty much nothing unless you're buying a rebuild kit.

The biggest reason for the new turbo is the old one had destroyed seals from never being replaced and sitting for a few months after 220000kms. The motor itself was recently rebuilt (8000kms ago) and I have receipts to prove it, by a reliable shop in the area. The timing belt snapped and she went pop. Supporting mods that I've got right now are 550CC injectors, Walbro pump, exhaust is the next thing on the list once we figure this whole turbo mess out, big FMIC kit, external Tial wastegate dumped to atmosphere, S-AFC, all the free mods you can do, etc. I realized right away that the T04E was excessive, it's more suited to my 240SX project (KA with 450 horse, if anyone is interested), but we got it for a steal with the manifold.

Thanks a lot for that oil line link. Makes things worlds easier.

The last thing I'm wondering about, is one of the water lines is solid with the banjo through it. It looks like it will just screw out, so plugging that one up, best way to do it would be to just put a new bolt where the hard line screws out?

Oh and, I haven't really searched this yet so don't bite my head off, does anyone make an O2 housing for this turbo, or would I need to custom fab one?

think so about the bov? i have always had leak problems with them.

Yeah for sure, The 1g is much more reliable compared to the 2g bov when talking about leaking/failing/ect. It's recommend for a first mod on 2g to get rid of that bov for a 1g or something else.

They are made by a bunch of suppliers. I got mine here: Punishment Racing o2 Housings
Quality products from these guys.

There's a "Vendors" button on the menu bar at the top of this DSMTuners page. You'll find almost everything you could possibly need on that list of suppliers.

yea i never ouned a 2-g before. i went through 3 of them. then said heck with it and bought a twin port turbosmart. thing is a straight beast.:talon:

i tapped in to the water ports and put a set screw with some teflon tape and it works great. It also looks clean.

+1 for extreme psi! Super fast shipping. Thanks for the link! Should have this setup running in no time.
