Are any of you guys running Synchromesh in your transfer case? There seems to be a wide range of opinions and I can't find a definitive "I've run it for years" or "it's bad because..." type answer.

The vfaq says to use the same for the tranny and x-fer, but I believe a heavier oil is recommended for the transfer case. I would think it would be ok, but may be too thin and leak?

I just put my car back together (including new seals in the x-fer case) and dumped a little over 1 pint of SM in. I then noticed a small leak, but I can't tell if it's from the new seal or the yoke. The car is at an angle though, with the front on stands.

Thanks as always

EDIT:

Just before the teardown, I had the x-fer case oil changed at a Jiffy Screwed and they put a thin synth oil in. When I got under the car, it had sprayed all over the yoke area... probably a combination of the thinner oil, old seal, and whatever else it is that leaks at the yoke.
