Ok guys I am having a pickle with this issue. Last night I was in sever pain (tooth ache) so my buddy decides to drive me home in my car. And as I am falling asleep in the passanger seat he decides to play with 02 eclipse and this when I wake up and I realize he is doing about 75 and down shifts to 4th and flys. All of sudden BAM! My car felt like it hit a brick wall and it stutterd. To end the story short, I check the car the next morning for damages. To see if the turbo is blown. I checked for any shaft play and there is none! I check the compression and it is 150 across the line. Oil & coolant is fine. So I take it for a sping and I hear a whistle, almost like a supercharger not so much during boost but around 15 hg. Yet again my car is so loud I can barely hear anything.
So what could it be? All symptoms lead to a blown turbo yet it is fine. Also I see little white/clear smoke out the tail pipe but that was somewhat normal for my car especially in this kind of weather.
Sorry about the long post and also about my spelling or grammer I am writing this through a sidekick.

I physically checked out the ic piping and the ic it self and I see nothing. Oh well I will double check it again.Thank you.
Also to check for shaft play, all you do is remove the intake and check the wheel for any movement correct?

You need to do a boost leak test with compressed air and a bottle of soapy water. All thrust bearing turbo's will have a little play up and down, but there should be zero in and out. Spin it by hand and make sure it spins freely and doesn't bind or hit the housing. But doooooo not push hard on the shaft of the turbo when checking play! Also sounds like your friend might have shifted to 4th and the boost might have spiked and hit fuel cut. was it really cold out last night and are you stil running the 1g MAF sensor?

I did check it by hand and it spun freely. Also I realized there is little bit of oil around my wires and on top of my valve cover but not enough for my oil level to be low at all.

Then I doubt its your turbo. The oil in the valve cover is either coming from a crack in the valve cover or oil cap seal is worn out (clean it up). Do a boost leak test, your not going to find boost leaks just by visually inspection unless they are huge. What are you running for boost (psi)? and are you still running a 1g MAF sensor?

I'm still on the 1g maf.
And I am running around 12-13 psi. Mods are in my profile except for the 225 wally and 560fic inj that are not install

It definitly sounds like he hit fuel cut. Does the car run normally? If it does, i'd do a boost leak test just to be on the safe side, theres no point to spinning your turbo to 150000 rpm at 12 psi. No leaks, have fun!

The car runs fine besise the whistle noise and I have realize my gas go down a bit.
I am tryin to find a compressor machine to do a boost leak test.

Did you locate an air compressor? I know this sounds crude but here in PA some petrol (gas) stations have free air, the pressure isn't the best but it's a source of compressed air none the less...

Do a boost leak test. Get back to us after that and that may fix your problem. I had a vacuum nipple come off on my intake manifold and it did exactly what yours is doing. Fixed it and fixed the problem.

Haha yeah, pop a hose clamp on the sidemount. Now running 20psi and hard.
