I bought a SBR-G50 and installed it almost a year ago. At the moment the internal gate is broken. So i've done some searching and found what i have to do to turn it into an external gate. I've also had people tell me you can weld around where the WG arm connects by the pin(Sorry don't know what it's called),but it's on the outside. I know you can go in and weld the WG flapper shut, but was seeing if it was possible to do weld that piece on the outside so doesn't move. If this isn't possible, how in depth is actually getting to the flapper to weld it. Will i need to buy anything like a gasket or anything to put it back together(never opened a turbo up before). Thanks for your time guys!

the internally gated mitsubishi turbos are simple yet effective... if you remove the O2 housing from the side (3 bolts, 1 nut) and its right there... EXTREMELY accessable if you wish to weld it.. and i'd just weld the flapper shut inside the dump gate area... little MIG would do the trick wonderfully, then also... i personally always get rid of any gasket .. to everyman his own, but i find permatex ultra copper to be the best for high temp.. i've burned out alot of gaskets makin my car sound like crap... try it... you'll like it... but the external wg is hard to fit in there ... so good luck man... heres a pic of the flapper in the turbo next to the exhaust outlet...
