Swapping Turbos

how difficult is it to go from a stock 2g turbo to a td05 14b stock 1st gen turbo? are there any mods? i have a front mount on right now and im hoping i can still use the same piping or will i need new/more piping?

btw i have a 98 tsi

It's pretty simple, the only thing you should need is the j-pipe.

he gave me his factory J pipe so its the short one on the 1st gen its not like the big after market one so will that work?

You'll want to buy an aftermarket j-pipe to face the driver's side of the car (if that's how your front mount is routed) along with an oil supply line to fit the 14B (preferrably the 1G factory oil supply from the head). All other parts can be modified to work.

Obviously you're going to have to modify your existing intercooler piping a little- the 14B looks nothing like a T25.

where would i or how would i get the oil supply? auto parts store? and if so would i jsut ask for the oil supply line on the turbo or how would i go about this?

get a used stock oil line or a used ss oil line. try ebay or craigslist or vendors on this site.i have both if u are interested pm me and we can work out something if u would like

Hit up extremepsi, they have all the gaskets, lines, bolts you need for a smooth install and they carry OEM parts also..
