I have a 1993 Laser 2.0 auto that has a bad engine but new transmission. Also a 1995 Talon with 2.0 auto. The 95 has bad transmission but good engine. Debating should I swap the engines and fix the 93 or will the tranny from the 93 work in the 95. Any advise would be appreciated.

Assuming the 95 is a non turbo, you won't be able to swap engines. They are completely different engines, in completely opposite configurations with nothing in common.

One is a 420a, and the other is a 4G63 N/T. First find out which one you have. More than likely the 93 will have the 4g n/t.

The 93 has the bottom picture in it. I will look at the 95 and see. I have 3 of these cars and didnt know the difference. I can see the timing belt is on different sides along with intake config. Thanks that help. I'll have to check out the 95. Car runs just tranny is bad in it body and interior and engine is fine and I can get it for $300.

Like I said, if the 95 is a non turbo it won't work. The non turbo 95+ came with the 420a which is a dodge built motor and not even remotely similiar to the 4g. If the belts are on different sides that means the 95 is a 420a. Not going to be able to swap anything between the two. Every dsm came with DOHC engines except the 1.8L 1g's and the non turbo spyders, so just because they are DOHC doesn't mean its the same one.

Even if the 2g is 4g63, the 1g trans will not bolt in. The 2g roll stops are on the trans while the 1g's are on the engine.

Exactly.. Regardless of its engine either swap wont work.. the 93 has roll stops on the the engine and the 2g 7 bolts dont have those. So, the 2g engine wont bolt into the 1g and your 1g trans wont bolt into the 2g. You're screwed either way..
