Swapping Turbos...

Well im kinda new here i have an 03 SVT Focus, and im a proud new owner of a 91 Talon TSI But when i bought the car. the exhasut side of the turbo was cracked..... so there for i bought a new manifold and turbo, its a 14b not a 13b, i know i will have turbo lag, but will it be any faster...? and i didnt have a blow off noise hopfully i will now?

luckely you came to the right place....

going from a 13g to a 14b, you would have to be the most anal retentive person in the world to notice an increase in turbo lag, especially since your old turbine housing was broken.... dont worry, the lag might even be less because you were loosing exaust gas with that cracked housing....

as for the "noise" depending on what you are talking about, neither of the two i can think of should be any more noticable.... are you talking about the bov (the sound in between shifts) or the turbo spooling up (the sound during hard acelleration...) the turbo might be a little louder, but the bov wont be any louder at all, you would have to buy a hard pipe or vent your bov, which you SHOULD NOT DO, because when you vent your bov you are releasing air that your computer thinks is going into your engine, and the computer adds more fuel than is actually needed... this causes the car to waste gas and run crappy...
