hey guys, i just recently registered but i've been reading this forum for quite a while and theres a ton of useful info out there! that being said, id like to ask some of the more experienced tuners if anyone has done a M/T swap into a stock A/T 91 AWD Tsi?

could someone possibly provide a list of parts i'd need to buy to make the swap?
i know i need...
-AWD 5 spd tranny
-Clutch disk
-clutch master cylinder
-pressure plate
-axle shaft
-Driveshaft
-Flywheel
-Shift cables

would it be similar to swapping a 2g auto to manual http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231626 ?
anything you can think of? thanks a lot!http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231626

A new TRE is 2150 for the base model. It is only $1100ish for a stage 1 with a core. You'd have to e-mail them about the cores on Autos though.

There's their site.

And as far as pulling the parts off for you, I'm sure I probably could. I'd want a little bit for the troubles and for gas and what not. I get like 50-70% off shipping through DHL so I could get everything out to you pretty cheap. It also depends if there are MT cars out there and if the stuff you need isn't pulled yet. I've never pulled any of those parts off either.

Call around and look around to see what you can find. If you don't find much just give me a shout.

TRE looks pretty expensive and i only need a working tranny with not too many miles on it so i think i might stick with ebay on it.

and doc, i wouldnt mind paying labor and gas fees cause from what i hear, pulling the pedals and such takes quite a bit of work. ill be sure to look around for those parts myself first but itd be my first time to a junkyard and im not the best mechanic around either. thanks a lot for looking out for me, tho!

No problem at all man. :thumb:

ok, i think i have most of the info i need as of now. im thinking of getting these parts pulled from a junkyard:
-shifter assembly
-shifter boot
-shifter cables
-cable hold downs
-firewall gaskets
-brake and clutch pedal assembly
-flywheel to crankshaft bolts

and then im thinking of buying these parts off ebay or vendors:
-clutch master, slave
-clutch fluid line
-clutch kit w/ flywheel
-manual transmission

i calculated it and it comes to around $1100 plus or minus, total. is that a reasonable price do you guys think? and did i miss any parts? i dont need a new transfer case do i?

and a manual transaxle, i dont need to get one do i? i looked it up those things cost twice what i paid for my car...

By the way when tou pull out the tranny and stuff you are going to run into a bearing that sits in the middle of the crank its a bastard and makes you want to set the car on fire. Now i'm going to help you, Defiant gave me a solution which was to pack the hole with grease, get a socket that fits in the hole just right put and extention into it(backwards) and hammer away. That didn't work for me because i used a 1/4 and it couldnt couldn't go all the way in because it narrowed to a 19, so i used the 19 and well grease came out the sides:mad: . So i decided eff it i'm going to get the DREMEL( ohh sorry rotary tool) and cut it up gave it a nice grinding and wala i was done.

o right, thanks dude. wow thats a whole lot more money...

hmm... im not really looking forward to that, but thats fine, thanks for the tip. the more sweat i put into it, the better i'll feel about it when im done. say, have you done this swap before? id love to be able to ask questions and tips to someone who's had experience. thanks for the tip tho!

i'm doing it now, its just harder to find a rear diff for the the 2g because stingy bastards don't want to let em go.
