So I spend a good part of yesterday and all day today trying to mock up the piping (I just had to get a "universal" piping kit instead of premade. So now I'm attempting to use alumiweld for the BOV flange and it's not working too well, so I'm JB Welding it.

But that's not my question. Is there anyone that can tell me how to mount it? Will it hold on its own if I just let it hang by the intercooler piping or?? Because here's the thing...I bought some rubber straps with hooks on the end but I can't find anywhere to hang them. I had to cut some of the metal that sits in front of the intercooler because of the Supra air ducting. Is it OK to just have it mounted to the piping and hang that way or does it need to be strapped in or???

Yes you will have to mount the intercooler. The piping really isn't made for supporting a SMIC.
Use some metal straps and mount it from the supra holes to your stock SMIC holes. Drill/tap into an easier spot if that's what you want.

So I got it mounted with metal exhaust strap, installed the piping and everything....looks good for cutting up universal piping:

Is it normal for the lower pipe to stick out like this? The pipe is as far up (toward J pipe) as it can go, and it still has to clear the subframe so I can't really do anything about it?

Thats how mine is on my front mount. You gotta do what you gotta do. Keep the boost low i guess...that jb weld isn't going to hold much. I`ve never heard of anyone using that.

Mine doen't go under at all, it should be fine if you're mindful of it when going up driveways. Where did you get the plastic piece for the SMIC and have you gotten it to fit with the bumper?

I suppose on 1Ga cars. That's how the Supra SMIC was on my buddy's '91 TSi AWD.

My '92 TSi FWD is alot cleaner:

I ran it for a year and a half with the intercooler wedged behind the bumper- no strapping holding it in place. The intercooler was fully supported by the upper pipe and it never budged.

The "plastic piece" is the air duct for the TT Supra. I bought it through Toyota for like $60 shipped. I have not mounted the bumper yet.

So I got the bumper on and all that jazz...let's say the bumper didn't fit because the intercooler duct was too big. I didn't want to cut up my $60 piece of plastic (ridiculously priced) so I decided to do the next best thing. Cut up the bumper. Now there's a ridiculously large hole in the side and I moved the license plate over to where the fog light was (cut the light out for no reason :ohdamn:

The intercooler also sticks out from the back of the bumper...could just be installation error, but I don't really mind it. I had to cut the bumper THAT far back to make the duct fit. Otherwise the bumper wouldn't bend in to bolt up. Looks like ass but eh....

Ack, don't have a straight edge? I think I would have done without the air duct and made my own to fit the bumper better. To each his own though, it works... :)

I was using a Sawzall until it didn't want to cut anymore. So I just used an angle grinder and zipped it off. It started raining on me again so I just wanted to hurry up and finish it. I can do back later and clean it up if I decide to....this car will probably just see track soon anyways.

Oh, also decided to do a metal recirc tube. There are rubber bends but the pipe goes straight off of the BOV and straight across.

:ohdamn: Too late now. I am not too worried about it. It will just look more sleeper right.....? (sarcasm) But really, I might clean up the edges later on and get it to look a bit nicer.

If you really wanted sleeper you could have saved all that money and kept using the stock smic or have just gotten an ebay fmic and painted it black...

Stock sidemount wouldnt be able to hold 20psi. And everyone has a front mount. We will see how I like this setup and go from there

its whatever you want man, its your car. But I definitely would research from now on to save you some hastles. Cause if you decide you HATE how your bumper looks in the future thats gonna be some dough to get the bumper and then paint it. MORE dough then lets say a piece of sheet metal and an hour's worth of labor to make your own duct! LOL

Did you flip the end tank? Most people do and cut a new hole up top to get a tighter fit. Also with the way you hung your IC, It's going to move around.

Youre right about the future...as of right now looks arent that important to me. Thats not why I bought a DSM. As long as its functional and fast whos complaining?

As for flipping the endtank, I did. The intercooler is pushed as far to the right as possible. I cut the hole bigger and all that. It isnt moving around...I shook it, its solid. The bumper also squeezes it some. Im not too worried about it.

Th JBWeld is holding up...for now. We will see what happens as time goes on.
