i have a 96 talon with 80k miles on it and my sunroof dosen't open i checked the fuses and they are fine. Is it possible that the motor could be burned out?

Possible, it could also be something like the actual switch but doubtful. For some reason 3 out of the 5 2g's I have known with sunroofs don't work.

most likely the sunrood motor burned out or the sunroof ECU is fried.

while you replace it replace the fabric headliner so you dont have to do it in the future.
