1G sunroof latch not locking

hello, I'm only posting a new thread for this because I haven't been able to find a thread that has the same problem or found a solution... i just got this 1gb and the sunroof latch doesn't lock at all, is there a solution besides buying a new sunroof latch assembly. im tired of the rattling i live on a dirt road so it falls almost every time i leave the driveway

Lets see a picture of your sunroof to make sure it's factory. There are lots of aftermarket ones out there.

Looks factory. Do you still have all the hardware to attach the latch to the roof?

i just took the latch off to see if i could find what was wrong with it, i have the hardware that attaches to the roof and to the glass. only problem is it doesnt lock in the up or down position
