Sucess stories with Meth / Water / Alch

I just added my snow perf. 2D kit in May, let's just say I could get away with 32 psi on pump 93 + 625ml nozzle :D

I have since changed my all important 3 things to buy for a DSM list to : DSMLink, wideband, & meth :rocks:

No actually he's not worried about the filter at all if you read it again. I think he has a good idea of where the nozzles would be located. He's just saying that if sucking water up the intake would cause damage how can injecting it not. But the big difference is in volume of water and also vaporization.

You're right, it was late when i posted, but he's still equating a soaked airfilter to water/alky injection which means he still doesnt understand what is taking place or even how the nozzles work. Then again WTF do i know. Just go buy whatever the bling bling kit is of the week, crank the boost up, turn the timing up and let it eat! ROFL

1. If people put their filter in the open and it comes in contact with water you have a chance of killing your motor.

2. I know that water / alk is a pump and resevor that pumps liquid to a nozzle near the tbe.

3. I stated in my first post asking if the water evaporated.

My only guess with water injection is the nozzle sprays such a fine spray that when it comes in contact with the "hot" air that it evaporates and such in cooling that air in that area and further down the road.

Like I said I dont know a whole bunch and wanted other peoples sucess storys and I happend to get a little bit of knowledge out of it.

Im not throwing on what ever bling bling kit.

I own an 12k 99GSX low milage whore that has very taste full mods.
Im doing my research first before I go and do anything else but I wanted to know how people beifited from injection to see if its a mod for me.

Thanks to thoes who replied.

I havent done this yet, but plan to once E85 is available in the area. My theory is that the methanol injection will suppliment the fuel system just like it does on pump 93 currently and the need for some enormous injectors will go away. For instance, currently my EVO 560's are seeing 70% IDC. The car made 385awhp, considering only 20% for drivetrain loss thats 460 at the flywheel roughly. Im only putting roughly 270hp worth of injector to the car, the rest is a single M15 nozzle.

Obviously with E85 i will need more injector than i have now, but i dont think ill be needing 1000cc/min or bigger to make the same power. I'd add a second meth nozzle before i went bigger. Id really like to see some serious testing and results using both.

Try a little isopropyl alcohol. It likes to burn at 24:1 a/f ratio. This higher stoich rate will alter the lambda for the sum of the fuels (e-85 + isopropynol). The more isopropynol the less e-85 is necesary to reach stoich; and the less e-85 is needed to reach the ideal ratio for the most torque which is somwhere below stoich. Isopropyl alcohol has an octane rating of over 100 similar to e-85. It does not have the potential energy of e-85. But because the stoich is SO high, it doesn't take much to make a significant difference.

I used to run Iso in my water up to 50% (before I had larger injectors installed), And it would shoot my lm-1 down into 9.0 a/f ratio (set to reference lambda for gasoline a/f ratios). I was running 50-50 water/Iso and a m3 nozzle. Without it my a/f ratio sat at 11.5:1.

When running pure water (look up this info on the aquamist forums), your wideband is fooled into thinking that the fuel is burning too lean, when in actuality the fuel is added as rich as you tuned it before the water was added but the wideband can't go into the CC and see that the fuel is burning rich. This is because, unline a narrow band, a wideband measures 'partial pressures' in the exhaust gas stream instead of the actual oxygen content; and, as you guessed it, water (steam) affects that pressure telling the wideband that a leaner exhaust gas stream is present. When someone says they get away with 11.5-12:1 a/f ratio with pure water on higher boost, it shouldn't be impressive. They're likely actually running 10ish:1 or possibly down in the high 9s depending on how much water is used. This is why you shouldn't calibrate your maf using a wideband when injecting water or water/meth mix.

So for this reason, I tend to set a target non-injection boost, get the best timing and fuel out of it. The add injection and up the boost as much as I can go. After that, I may tweek the timing curve since the burn rate is slowed. But I leave my fuel alone after I've started tuning wth injection.

I've been able to run 27ish psi with water injetion, where without it I had to stay under 22 psi and run 10.5-10.9:1 a/f ratio pre-injection with my holset h1c to avoid any knock. The a/f ratio registered at 11.8-12:1 according to my wideband after injection. I've had the same results with meth mix or pure water with this turbo. With the small 16g, I had better results with meth mix with this same satup. It seams that when a turbo is being pushed to the edge of the map, it likes meth more. As my 14b responded better to meth mix as well.

They do complement each other e85 and water/meth injection. water/meth injection is intended to remove the heat out of intake air and it does it better than an intercooler.

Now there are quite afew people that run these kits out of there design specs and use them as a secondary fuel system, add lots of meth and remove lots of fuel. Doing this is kinda a wash when running E85

Just curious has any tried e85 in the injection unit? Right now I am running mostly water but was wondering what injecting 105 octane e85 would do?

I run meth injection and e-85 together.. 35psi on a 60-1 with zero knock and very aggresive timing.
