Custom 95-99 ECLIPSE Sub Box Speaker Enclosure 2G NEW!! | eBay

Get a large peice of cardbord..Trace the trunk..Then transfer the template over to wood..Then just make sure you have enough depth to fit the box..Make the boards that goes on the bottom of the trunk, and put wood under those to make a it a complete structure.....It sounds harder than it actually is......Good luck..

it gives you almost everything you need to know how to make it in the add.

Enclosure Specs:

- Black Automotive Carpet (other pre-approved colors may be substituted upon request)

- 8.5" mounting depth

- 2 seperate chambers

- 1 cubic foot / chamber

- 2 cubic feet total

- 3/4" and 1/2" MDF

the problem with that design, is depending on your subs, they may require more space then 1 cu foot.

It looks like a standard sealed box on its back with that big wood trim around it. I would just measure down from the lip on the trunk to the bottom of the trunk and figure out the size box you could make and then just do what bud92gsx said and trace it out and put it on top. I'd say the main thing is that its just a regular box in its back

ya i know the top part but does any one know a good box size for 2 12" subs im trying to do

no one can tell you a good box size without knowing how many cu feet the subs need, and either they are recommended to be in a ported or sealed box.

ok well the guy at audio store said it doesnt make to much difference of how big the box is but small differences. so i am gonna make it and find 2 subs to fit for cheaper .... the box is going to be 3ft x 18in x 12in ... facing upwards toward the back window any suggestions or comments that this seems about average for a box size?

it would be extremely simple to make just make sure where the subs are going to be mounted that there is enough room to clear the floor and thats about all there is to it if youre carpeting it thats simple and if youre fiberglassig it that will take some work but still pretty simple

ya carpet on the top part only really easy but do you think that that size box will fit most subs when i buy some subs?

yeah deffinately. are you worried about them hitting the floor or the wood not holding them or what?

That's Actually better than what I was planning, But i'm using 2 S15d "old school" solobarics, which require Less than 1 Cu. Ft. of sealed airspace, with a 50% poly Fill.

the guy at the audio store is an idiot and has no idea what he is talking about. he is just there as a face to sell stuff.

you want to talk to an INSTALLER. the box size DOES matter.

lets put it this way, you install a monster turbo on your car, and plan to run 30psi. the guy tuning it says it doesn't matter what fuel mods you have and you'll be fine.

would you trust him?

an improper box size can and will over time damage your speakers. :nono:

it will also effect sound quality and the overall "kick" of your system.

im worried the box is to big or too small idk the average for a box. also wondering the guys at the audio store said i have a jensen power 900watt amp 1 channel.. that it will pump the 2 subs good but others say it wont any experts on that question?

is that 900WRMS or max? how many ohms are the subs your going to use? dual voice coil?

if you dont know what any of this means, its likely to get very confusing.

my last setup was 2 diamond audio 12 inch subs, dual voice coils, wired to 2ohms, briged on my 1300WRMS amp. they sucked in the premade box i had them in. had a buddy help me build a custom ported box with the proper cu ft rating, and tuned the port, and OMG huge difference.

if all you want is a little bass with your music, its best to stay on the lower end of the spectrum of audio equipment, couple low range JL or even kenwood subs, your jensen amp, and you'll be fine.

ya i do know know much about them but i just want like two basic subs to fit my amp its a jensen 900 you can look it up .. but pretty simple what ever i find cheap and pretty goo quality will do like kenwood or pioneer

Did you go to the fleamarket again? (Joking) Trust Anubis, do it right!

send me your sub make model amp and your usable measerments in inches and ill design one out for ya ported tuned to around 35 hz ill make you a 3d design in google scketch up if you have sketch up all to scale take me a couple days

ok well just to fit in my trunk of a 2g the biggest i think i measured the box would be 36" x 18" x 12" and i dont have subs yet and i have a power 900 jensen amp

That's a pretty nice setup I guess. I mean that must weigh at least 100lbs? It doesn't take much to make great sound come out of our cars. And plus would you have your hatch cover out? i would think bass would create movement in it. But that's just me. I'm more of a keep-the-thieves-guessing kinda guy. Although it would take a hulk to snatch that out of a hatch, but would rather not risk it.

I wouldn't want that in a car because of the weight of the design. Use the tire cover cardboard one, and use that as a makeshift template. Or you can use the cardboard too:) Either way, good luck on what you come up with and if you decided to make the one from the pics, id make it into a band pass somehow, always loved the sound of band passes in hatches. Good luck man and keep us updated!:hellyeah:
