Having problems with the car sputtering/stuttering/cutting out under wide open throttle. From what I've noticed, it seems to do this in second, third and fourth gear at higher RPMs under WOT. The sputtering is fairly mild, it's not violent and it doesn't jerk but the car definitely isn't putting out the power that it should, it feels like the car is holding back while this happens.

Haven't done or changed anything on the car, it's been doing this since we bought the car (which was about two weeks ago). The car had a bunch of small boost leaks which we fixed. The car doesn't seem to have any more boost leaks, we've boost leak tested it to 32PSI and couldn't find any more leaks. We just changed the ignition/spark plug wires as well and are still having the same problem. :(

Let us know what you think. Thanks in advance.

^^ gotta agree, check the plugs and wires. it's probably blowout from either old plugs, plugs with too big of a gap or the wires are leaking and arcing out to ground from being old and worn

At 33psi the other day i had a huge blowout issue that sounded like a high speed 2 step rev limiter, and my plugs were not a week old and gapped at .020", that's a small gap but at the higher boost i had to gap them to .017 and it completely cleared up.

+1 plug gap. At those boost levels plug gap should be .020" maximum. I'm at around .018" at 32psi.

Thanks for the replies guys. We changed the plug gaps from .028 to .017 and the car drives much smoother now - not just at WOT but also while cruising through town too. :thumb:

Amazing how something so little can make such a huge difference isn't it??? That's why there's people that spend 15k dollars in parts to run mid 13's, then there's guys who don't have 4k invested including the price of the shell and run 10's.. all in the attention to details and proper setup ;)

glad ya got it worked out... one of those things that can drive ya nuts when you're not able to recognize it from a past experience

When would it be ideal to purchase a spark ignition booster? I know they give 50,000 volts instead of our measly 15,000.
Would a 20g 30 psi with supporting mods be in that catagory?
