Hey guys! I have a question about exactly when did turbo DSM's go to the 7 bolt crank? 93 or 94? I only ask because I'm having a AWD Trans problem with my 95' Talon :confused: Bought a "JDM" AWD Trans off Ebay and it was listed for a 95-99 awd . Well guess what, the trans looks different, tho, it does share the W4A33 Part number with the old trans. But there are differences between the 2. Different torque Converter(same 4 ear design)and housing for different converter, different shift bracket and different plug on front of trans.

Anyways, Ijust read that a kid has a 93' AWD with his old trans having the plug like my new one has. So Iwas just wondering if there were 7 bolts in 93' that may require a different flex plate for this different torque converter. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! LOL :dsm::talon:

P.S. I have pics of the trans over in Automatic tranny in drivetrain tech.

I dont know much about the other stuff your asking ,but i can start you off by telling you yes they did make 7 bolts in late 93.If that helps a lil LOL

Si.. They did have 7 bolts then... What do you mean by the plug?

my bad.. just noticed the bottom.. LOL

its early

92.5 were the first 7 bolts. As well as the first 4 bolt rears. And the trannies are different from 1g to 2g. Good luck.

In mid 92 they started using 7 bolts. They also started using 4 bolt rear ends a couple months before they started using the 7 bolt engine. So, some 92's come with the 6 bolt engine and 4 bolt rear end. All 90-91 had 6 bolts and 3 bolts in them. All 93+ had 7 bolts and 4 bolts in them. 92's with a 7 bolt will have a 4 bolt. 92's with a 6 bolt could have a 3 bolt or 4 bolt.

well shows how much i know.I thought it was in 93 or late 93 they made them .Oops.Maybe i need to wake up zzz:toobad:

Ok, will the late 1g trans work with a 2g early 7 bolt set up then? I ordered the flexplate for the 1g trans( which should fix the problem i ran into yesterday trying to line up a 2g flexplate with a 1g torque converter:cry:) ...only other thing different really is that plug on the front again? All other plugs and mounts are correct. If pics are needed, You can find them in the drivetrain tech forum, sun forum automatic tranny, thread "95' 2G AWD Auto Trans ? "

Thanks again guys!:dsm::talon:

The mounts are set up differently on the 1g and 2g transmissions.
