stupid bov question

ok guys, stupid question, but i was looking at the greddy website as i am looking at their fmic and piping and bov, but noticed they only list the type rs for the 95-99 eclipse. is this the only greddy bov that will work with the greddy ic pipes? or will the greddy type s bov work too?

i know it sounds dumb, but it seems kinda odd that the type rs is the only one listed for the eclipse

rs and s have the same flange, both will work for a Greddy flange

Greddy's site does not list the Type-S because it is no longer in production.

Also, do yourself a favor and look into ETS, VSRF, and Punishment FMIC kits rather than that overpriced, under-performing Greddy kit. You'll be much happier in the long run and all can be purchased with a variety of bov flanges in place.

Type S will work but it is no longer in production many years ago. You'll have to search ebay for used one... fake or real!

The punishment kit fmic comes with a types s knockoff many of which won't operate properly unless you pop the cap off and remove the smaller spring.

Any greddy bov will work, but if I recall the Type S and Type RS have been discontinued and replaced withe the Type RZ.

damn, hopefully i can find a used type-s when time comes. its the only bov i like the sound of. they rz sounds like theres no bov at all

You shouldn't be concerned about the sound as long as it's working properly.

Since you don't have your profile filled out, I would hope that you are recirculating your BOV if you are on the stock MAF. Unless you are running speed density or have a GM MAF in blow through operation then keep it recirculated.

If you want a more solid tuning then I would go with ECMLink which will require an EPROM ECU which you will need to check for yourself.

how do i know how 'hard' or 'soft' to set the adjustment screw? as soft as possible without it leaking?

Hard or soft is the response of the blow off valve. It will determine how quick or slow it will release air. If it's to hard it will give you the harder quick pssssh sound because more air is needed to overcome that spring. Soft will give you a softer ppsssooohh! Air will be coming out freely because of less pressure to over come the spring. It will also help if you are having air trap between the pressure points and throttle body bouncing back and forth. OH I remember the word now. Flutter!

Set it about half-way and take of driving. Build a little boost and listen to how it sounds. If you hear leaking, increase. If you hear what could be surging, decrease. If you enjoy either sound : Leave it.

My Type S made my GST sound like the Batpod, but nowhere near as cool.

Same with mine. So I got rid of two type s and stuck with the 1gen. No more greddy bov for me ever again!

NGR type-s is even better than the original type s. they redesign the diaphragm and can hold more boost without leaking. don't waste your time looking for greddy type-s people want too much money for them.

the reason i am looking at the greddy 18r fmic is bc i have been told there is less hacking/cutting involved and i can keep the 2ga foglights

yeah i think im going to go with the ngr type-s instead of greddy. plus i love the sound of the type-s
