Hi everyone, I've been here for a little while now without tackling the biggest issue my car has, which is strut tower rust. I've peeled at the big ugly area with my fingers and it does seem solid, but I'm worried that the small amount of rust I see now will get worse. Is it worse than I think? Better? Okay? And more importantly, is there anything I can do myself to fix it, or where could I get it fixed?

It’s difficult to tell but the passengers side appears to have been repaired before with bondo, so the cracking could be signs of rust under the cracks.

To assess any other problems you would need to remove the wheels and fender liner to inspect the rust on the underside as well

The rusting doesn’t look extremely severe at this point. However you would have to do more inspection under the car

Anything can be fixed, but to fix it properly would cost more than the car is worth if you were to have a shop do all of the work

Thanks for the feedback! I'm taking it in to a shop to get a quote this friday, where I live Eclipse's are not cheap cars, a decent condition one is ~€10k, and a barely driving one can't be found for under €4k, so I'm not very averse to spending ~€1500 to have this properly fixed, if that is what it will cost. So let's hope that it's somewhere around that number or less!

Body shop said it will cost €2k, and I'm going to do it, I would hate to send this car to the scrapyard, and I'm pretty sure that would be it fate if I don't save it. It's an investment for sure, but one I'm prepared to pay!
