I thought it was surface rust. Then I came at it with a wire brush and it broke the metal. How bad is this. Could I cut the piece off and weld in another sheet of metal or what would be the best way to approach this problem?

That looks pretty bad. But when I bought mine they must of had the same problem because they cut out the rust and welded on pieces of steel and painted it. It's holding together still for me but just gotta keep an eye on it and make sure they're clean.

Here's some more pics also. Does it look like the strut tower would have to be replaced?
Well it looks like they could probably cut those spots out and weld on a steel plate (I would suggest steel) and then have them paint it. Also are you working on your head or something because I can see your pistons in the block LOL.

Yeah. Actually. My old man wouldn't fix the overheating until the head got warped. Long story short it got machined. He died. He didn't pull the head apart and label the bolts and studs. So. I lost some since he didn't label. :) I got a long road ahead.

Well best of luck to you on your build :thumb: and for now on i'd suggest fixing something before it breaks and causes more issues :idontknow:
