the motor is a turbo. while driving normally through town everything is fine, but when I want to go full throttle it hesitates to climb the rpms, its almost like a struggle to get to 6,000. Does anybody have any ideas??

too much boost and you're hitting fuel cut?

oh or check your intercooler piping and bov you could have a leak and check you intake/fuel filter make sure its not clogged

or just do a coil on plug set up and dont worry about the spark plug headache anymore, then thats one thing off the trouble shoot list

plugs and wires are new..will definately do a boost test and check the fuel filter..fuel pump was just installed about a month ago..but I will give it check to..anybody got any other suggestions before I go to work?

Boost Lag, Lack of Fuel, Too Much Fuel, Timing off, Boost Leak, Shitty Plugs or improper Gap, bad Coil pack, etc.

I know on my 2.0T it seems like it struggles to get to 6K but it pulls very hard and accels very quickly still. (Might be because I've never owned a car that was geared like the Turbo 1G's until now)

What Mods do you have?

It is possibly a boost leak, but I'd be much more inclined to think if anything AFR related, that you're running lean instead of rich. I'd check the fuel filter as mentioned, and I'd check base ignition timing with a light. In my experience AFRs won't handicap a car remotely as much as improper spark timing. With retarded timing the car will struggle heavily to increase its rpm speed. Have you looked at the knock sensor condition?

Do you have a logger? If you post a log we could help more.

Exactly. And he has a 1G, which can log knock directly.

The knock sensor tends to get a little too touchy as it ages, one of the notorious tell-tale signs of it failing is the gooey fluid leaking out of it. The sensor is located on the firewall side of the block, near to cylinder 2. Another possibility is that the sensor is picking up phantom knock from the lifters, suspension or transmission.

on my 1G I jumped a couple teeth of timing due to a bad timing belt tensioner and my car still ran but would struggle to climb rpms just as you are stating....double check your cam gear and make sure they are lining up, and double check timing with a timing gun. If timing is off, re-set it and hopefully you havent damaged valves and should be good to go.
