Ever since i took off my cat when i open up WOT when i hit full boost my rpms jump hela fast to redline but i dont climb in mph is it my cluctch slipping? and i used to hit full boost at 12psi now when it does that i hit like 15 so.....plz help im thinking clutch cause i misshifted right before that happend

Yes, your clutch is now starting to go. It will start slipping in the higher RPM's first, then slowly start doing it in the beginning RPM's.

Time to upgrade! :thumb:

Probably the 2100 with a street disc if you're FWD, unless you plan on using slicks at the track.

2600 definitely if you're AWD.

and pull the stupid clutch restrictor while you're at it if you haven't already...

Then you won't be abusing the clutch by releasing it "slowly" while trying to accelerate on your 2-3 3-4 shifts...

Made a huge difference even on my stock clutch. Now i know why DSMs shift so crappily and I could never get it right and tight. it even helped to keep the turbo spool better b/c I am shifting quicker, and also it is loading the engine immediately instead of "slipping" for that 1/4 or 1/2 second when I shifted before.

It's restrictor not resistor
but anyway in the slave cylinder there is a small restrictor that allows the fluid to disengage the clutch with a little resistance, but restricts its return, thus making the engagement on each shift "softer".
personal opinion: it's there to help people who are not good stick drivers leave McD's with out stalling out. If you know how to drive stick well, the lack of "feel" will drive you mad, (like overboosted steering or brakes) and like I said it slows your shift down just a little on the disengage, and a bunch on the engage.
It feels like a real pedal now, you push it down and it pushes your foot all the way back up.

2g upgrade page (one of the originals)

look under faq/ howto

it's the last one.

I used to drive a hard bitten Yota nad a semi race MGB with no power anything. lack of feel drives me nuts, I can't shift properly if I can't feel the clutch and pressure plate in my left foot.

Does this only apply for 2g's? I'm not familiar with this either so forgive me for the newbie question.

im not sure if it applies to 1gs also... never owned one so I don't really keep up to date on them

it applies to turbo 2gs for sure, not sure about the NTs though since the have the engine the other way... it might though.
if it is the same slave for both then it does.

yeah I am...

I had a bad launch one stinking time and jsut a couple of weeks later I was pushing the car.

if the clutch is good, the tranny and engine are "locked" together, one can't accelerate with out the other.

Some folks swear that you should go 2100 on a fwd because it is going to spin the tires anyway... I don't have an FWd so I wont say one or the other, but to me the better the clutch the stickier the tire you can use. and the 2600 is about the same price...

Hopefully a search of FWd and 2100 will lead you to some valuable threads.

I have the ACT 2100 and I have no issues with it. I've heard that you don't want to go up to the 2600 because of crankwalk concerns. I guess the tougher pressure plate is more likely to make your crank take a stroll.

Yes that can cause it (the temp sensor) tells the car when to open close open loop. open loop is for when your car is cold, it injects more fuel to heat up the car faster. once it reaches optimal temperature, it goes into normal mode. Hope this helps
