Hey guys, I'm having a few problems building my 6 bolt 2.3l motor.

I had a 6-bolt turbo block and ordered a 6 bolt 2.4 crank. Along with the crank, I ordered Wiseco stroker pistons and SCAT rods. I had the pistons and rods thrown together at a local machine shop.

After i started putting everything together I noticed that the rods do not fit the crank. There is no side clearance between the rod and the crank at all, some of the rod caps won't even sit down on the journal all the way.

What could the problem be? Wrong crank? Wrong rod? Does the crank/rods just need to be machined to fit?

Another issue I am having is the amount I need to shave off of the main caps for the rods to clear them. I would almost need to cut off 3/4 of the material on the main caps to get the rods to clear.

Thanks for the help guys, I really don't know what to do at this point.

What now? Post pictures.

Sure thing. Snapped a few but this one is the clearest. Might be hard to tell from the picture, but that cap does not fit at all. In case you need perspective, you're looking at the bottom of the block and the rod cap is sitting on top of the journal.

The second is an overhead of a different cap on a different journal. This one fits, but its really tight. I can't fit any type of feeler gauge anywhere between the crank and that cap.

Small update, just micrometer'd my rod/caps and they're almost balls-on with what the manufacturer says they should be at. (Manuf said 1.115," i was reading 1.118-1.12") So I guess that only leaves the crank. I guess it must have been machined wrong or something. I'll try to get some measurements and post back.

Well, finally got everything back from the machine shop. The machinist had to take some material off each side of the rods/caps but now its all within clearances and everything fits good and spins freely. Also had him clearance the mains (because of the stroker) and take care of the oil squirters.
