montreal,
I have a budget of 3000$ CAN and I want a 2.4L stroker.
As I keep my 6 bolts Turbo 1G running in my car, I need to buy another engine.

What is the better choice of engine considering I'll change the valves, rods, crank and pistons. Is a N/T block going to work if I change all this stuff and cost less than a turbo block?

Thanks

That would be nice to help me because I heard a lot of stuff and I am not sure what to belive. Like on none turbo 4g63 you have more oil pressure so best for the stroker etc...

n/t blocks don't have oil squirters. Are you planning on building a 2.3? I'm assuming the 2.4 was a typo? Do you plan to use a 2.0 block with a 2.4 crank or a 2.4 block with a 2.0 crank?

It wasn't a typo but maybe I'm confuse with something.
If I use a 2L block with 2.4L crank I'm not going to get a stroker with 2.4L? Maybe cause of piston being taller?

You see why I was asking for difference in setup.

What are the pros and cons of 2.4L block with 2L crank vs 2L block with 2.4L crank?

As I start from nothing but a 95 Talon TSI AWD, which setup I should use for the most reliability and HP and Torque for my buck.

Is there a lot of fitting to do to make a 2.4L block works in 2ng Talon?

  So much questions...

2.0L block and a 2.4L crank yields you a 2.3L, you need a 2.4L block and crank for the 2.4L. A 2.0L crank in a 2.4L block yiels you a 2.1L.

OK it is becoming clearer.

So... Now I know I want a 2.3L stroker in 2L block.

What is the better choice of block considering I'll change the valves, rods, crank and pistons. Is a N/T block going to work if I change all this stuff and cost less than a turbo block?

Do I better have oil squirter or not.

Thanks :rocks:

Since you are putting in after market pistons the oil squiters aren't needed. Use what ever block you have avaliable to you.

Why are the oil squirters not needed for aftermarket pistons?

And is the 420a ok for my application or is it only a 7 bolts motor?

I found an engine !!!
I know it is a 89,90 or 91 (he doesn't remember) and 6 bolts non turbo.
Is it a 4g63? Is it going to be ok to build the engine with this block.
Any disavantages? How about the fitting in the car.

Fast answer would be greatly appreciated because I would get it tomorrow :sneaky:

From the sound of it you need to be doing a lot of research. You don't want the 420A, you want a 6 bolt 4G63 motor.

There were 3 engines offered before 95. There was the 1.8 SOHC, the 2.0 4g63 N/t, and everybodys favorite the all mighty 4g63 Turbo. There is debate on both sides as what block to use. http://www.polkperformance.com/ built my 2.3 with great sucess.

Thanks bus, so in theory, if I ask the dude if it is a 2L and his answer is yes, I have no problem building a stroker with the engine.

Perfect, I'm getting it after job.

Well I forgot that the late (after july 92 I think) 92-94 motors were seven bolts too. But they dont have the same crankwalk problem the 2g motors do. One hell of a brain fart there on my part. ROFL

Ok thanks to all of you. The motor is bought and is a 4g63 non turbo. It is a bit rusted on the motor and in the cylinder but not deep. For 75$ with the alternator, I have nothing to complain about.

A bit of sandblast and sandpaper and forged internal and it will be a beast. :rocks:

Dont sandblast it, you will never get the sand all out. Just take it to the machine shop, as they have all the stuff needed to take care of you there. They can have it dipped and they will machine out the cyclender walls anway. Congrats on the new motor.
