Stroker Crate Motor Pics?

Why do you want to go with the stroker motor?

Like I said in that novel ^^^^^ up there. I basically want to get all of the practical potential out of this car. I figured that the most basic, important first step would be building up the internals, preparing the engine for what I'm about to do to it.

To me, it seems like the stroker is just an extension of that. While I'm building the engine it won't be all that much more expensive to stroke it, and it makes sense that the 10% more displacement would just give me that much more potential to work with.

I'll be sure to check out Neons.org too, thanks for the tip

As for DSM Link, I don't have my hopes up on that one. I actually started another thread before this one about just that. It's just sort of a wishful thinking thing.

Anyway, it's going to be months before I can afford to do any of this stuff so I have lots of time to chat with you guys and decide what I'm going to do.

Thanks for the clarification there Locke, those all sound about like what I was thinking but now I know :thumb:

checked out Neons.org

LOTS of horror stories about terrible customer service and insane shipping times (don't care about shipping but I want to be sure I get exactly what I want with minimal hassle)

other than their ridiculous shipping times have any of you had any horrible experiences with Howell? anybody have any particularly good ones?

well either way, i'm a little scared of them now

is there anywhere else that sells whole kits or crate motors or am i going to have to piece this thing together where i can?

what are some of youguys' favorite vendors? anybody give us a good deal or anything? and something over here on the left coast would be nice as well, not necessary by any means though.

over at neons.org they seem to like Modern Performance a lot

I've had a half and half experience with modern performance. i bought my clutch from them, and specifically told the guy on the phone that it was going to a different shipping address than my billing address. we literally went over that factor three times, and he repeated the shipping address to me so I figured it would be right. showed up back at my house 300 miles away (not my apartment at school when there car is). However they refunded my shipping with no questions asked, and I payed like 50 bucks or so for two day shipping from Texas.

So anyway, good and bad experience, but there customer service was great, I'm sure it was just a simple mistake with my shipping.

I want to know people's real experience with Concept Illusions, not just hearsay and theories. I plan to make a thread here debating their turbo kit + Slowboy's turbo kit verses Hahn shortly, so no need to open that can of worms yet. I hope to get honest opinions from the knowledgeable 2GNTers on here with that.

Also if it helps any, I didn't get my stroker crate motor directly from Howell, but I'm friends with the guy I bought it from who did.

If I recall correctly, he told me it took longer than he expected for them to build it and ship it to him, but I have no memory of him complaining about their service aside from having to wait a while. Anyway he got hit by another car and chose to give up on his 2GNT in exchange for his new MR2. So I benefited by getting the motor with only 10k miles on it for much less than it would have cost me through Howell.

I don't know if you need to be weary of them, maybe just expect to be patient.

yeah, that's what it sounds like

patience is a virtue and if you don't have it or you just don't have time to wait it can make for a bad experience when the wait was the only issue
