FP3's or FP3x's. Who has them and use it for a DD, let me know how you feel about them!

Thanks!

I just saw your other thread, so I'm assuming it's a 2.3. They're very streetable, and they can idle very well, it all just depends on your tune.

Anyone else running either of these cams? Please, post your reply on them!

Thanks

I have FP3 cams in my built 2.4 engine and I love them. Swordfish gained more than 50whp when he swapped in FP3 cams in place of 272s on his 2.4 setup and they still idle like stock. I was almost dissapointed because I was hoping my car would have a mean sounding lope with these cams. Driveability is just fine. I cannot really give a fair performace report because I went from a stock 7 bolt engine and valvetrain with a 60-1 turbo to a brand new superbad 2.4 setup w FP3 cams and FP dual valve springs. The stroker spools the 60-1 so much faster than my old stock 2.0 7 bolt did even with the bigger cams I would never go back to a 2 liter. With the extra displacement the decrease in spool I would have experienced with these much larger cams is completely negated. Spool is great and Top end is sick.. but the car is not completely tuned yet. In my humble opinion, If you have a 2.3 or 2.4 motor and want to maintain decent spool and still make big top end power these are the cams to buy.

Awesome post, thanks bro!!! Also, were they a drop in affair or did you go and get them degreed?

KJ

Any cam should be degreed to the specs on the cam card, or on a dyno to achieve the desired power band.

It's been a long time since I built the engine and installed the cams in my car so I don't remember exactly what research made me opt not to degree them. However, as I recall FP suggested it certainly wasn't necessary to degree them, so I simply dropped them in. I'm sure degreeing the cams would be a good idea to get precise results if your looking to tweak your car for a specific idle type and powerband. Either way, I think you will be happy with the FP3's
