Street Car Takeover 2.0 at Knoxville Dragstrip is hosting a big Street car event for true Street cars. Daily drivers with full interior( rear seats deleted is ok as long as no metal is showing) head lights etc. Full rules list is on Facebook(I know, that site ) I’m not associated with the event just wanted to see if anyone had heard about it and might go to it? I figured it’d be some fun show up with some DSM cars.

Always nice to announce the event anyway!
We have 1/8 mile Street Drags here and, although I am the only "Import, as they call me", and the only 4 cylinder, I still announce it on here too.
But mine is a Eagle Talon so I consider it a domestic car.....SMH
Finally called me a Mopar at the end...cause I WON. DSM FTW.

Poor Camaro had no clue what was fixing to happen! Nice video. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get some videos myself. I’m not sure yet if I’ll be ready to really beat on the car by July 20th but I can go and let it stretch it’s legs so to speak. I don’t like to make hits in “Mexico” it’s not very safe

Smart of you. I have my own launching test pad of hard dirt/grass so I can "test hit" there and also in my stretch, I'm the only one that lives there....props for me for a few miles.
That video is a yearly event that the local law enforcement helps put on to keep it off the streets.
I actually had that guy ask for a re-run and said "Sure".
Same results
He has since upgraded and so have I.

So not trying to hijack the thread but this is the event. Feel free to google it. My son and I both were in it last year. He drove his Camaro and I was in the poor old blue Talon....(beat him too ) If you find the right link to some of the races, we are at the line, the starter backs up to bang the light....and falls on his ass. It was hilarious. My son and I both sat there at the line, ready to go. He finally got his shit together and got up and turned the light on. They replaced him after that. That was during warm ups. I'll never forget it!

Shoot yeah, I wish Knoxville would do more stuff to help get the younger crowd interested in going to the track instead of always racing in Mexico. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind an impromptu race down in Mexico but a controlled environment is my 1st choice. The sheer disrespect of imports and younger drivers around Knoxville from the “old school” racers keeps them away. My son and I, who’s 20, just built him a 95 Civic hatch and he talks about his friends not wanting to go to a racetrack. That event would work anywhere in America if the county would allow it.

Its fun, a long day, but fun. We usually go an hour away on Friday nights to the track for Test and Tune. Can make 5-10 passes in 4-5 hours with adjustments and cool down times while the boys are out blasting their way down the 1320'. All for $20. Pretty good deal for 5 hours or so of fun. They shut down at midnight and say "We don't care where you go, but you can't stay here"!
Memories for sure! Get the younger folks back to the track, for some real experience. Mine where racing the day they turned 14 and got their drivers license (here in KS, they can get one if they live on a farm, at 14, lucky kids).

Are you talking about the Street Car Invasion event DLW is throwing? I come back from vacation that week and will be in attendance. May even bring the car although because of the stupid exhaust rupes it doesn't slot in a half way decent class. We had a mini cash days last Saturday in the area I showed up to a gun fight on street tires ‍

Hell yeah another DSM guy in my area! I’ve been looking for someone close by for years. It’s Streetcar Invasion 2.0 July 20th at Knoxville Dragstrip. I’ll probably just go to watch. Unfortunately I’m still stuck with no alternator I bought one on here and it turned out to be a 1G! I’d love to get more involved in the car seen around but just couldn’t find anyone. Are you pretty active in this area? I’ve not even seen anything going on in “Mexico”.

Lol I'm mildly involved . There's quite a few 4g63 guys in and around the Knox area if you include the Evo guys as well. As for Mexico, well, there's Mexico almost nightly if you know where to look but it really pops off on weekends of course. There's a few spots I'd avoid like the plague due to "rice" and just immaturity but the faster crowd (v8, etc) isn't too bad. I'm not to active on here but I can point you in a few directions if you hit me up on FB. I'll pm you.
