For a while now I have been trying to pinpoint a rattling/grinding sound coming from my engine somwhere. I initially thought it was a bearing issue in the head but today while replacing my alternator I was able to course the sound to the upper portion of the transmission.
The sound occurs while the car is in neutral ( it probably happens all the time I just cant hear it) and as the rpms drop after being raised. Basically what I do to make the sound occur is rev up the engine ~1k-2krpms, using the throttle cable. When I release the throttle and the rpms drop, the sound occurs. The sound is sort of like pieces of metal being shaken around in a tin can. I can also feel a vibration coming from the top of the transmission as the sound occurs.
Could this be a flywheel relayed issue? I really hope I havent lost any flywheel bolts and theyre just floating around.
I started a thread awile back regarding this with a video clip, I'll try and find it and post the clip.
EDIT: Ok, I found the video. At the time I thought the sound was coming from the head area so thats where I was focused. You can still hear the same sound immediately after I release the throttle. It lasts quite a while once the engine idles.

i kinda dout it would be your fly wheel. Also dose it do it when u hold the clutch in cause mine did'nt when the clutch was held in.
