Wanted to get some opinions on this.... so i recently pull the motor out im preperation for my auto swap. When i went to drain the oil nothing came out at first, then the oil started to come out very thick almost like syrup. The engine has been sitting for a few months, when I attempted to drain the oil it was in the 20s in the garage. The block was probably colder. The oil im using is vr 20w 50..... the oils color was normal, not black or milky. The oil also felt normal. Has this ever happened to any of you?

If it's an E85 motor it's normal. It causes the oil to gel if left to sit in the cold.

Yea, the problem usually occurs when you do not fully allow the oil to get hot enough to boil out contaminates along with having an adequate enough PCV system to evacuate it all. E85 is inherently hygroscopic and that extra unburn fuel that gets past the rings is allowed to absorb more moisture and condensations in the the crankcase than normal pump 93. Guys were having issues with Brad Penn and e85 years ago and kept blamed it on the oil.

People always neglect to monitoring engine oils temps, but then again I only do so because I have an aluminum rod motor.

I figured as much.... when im running the car im extremely anal about my oil changes. I cut every filter that comes off the engine also. I was just a little surpised when nothing was coming out of my drain plug.
