Strange noise

WTF

I had to go on a long trip with my family, I took my car out to my dad's shop so that it would stay warm in the cold weather while we would be gone. In going out I decided to get on the throttle to get my fill of speed before leaving. Went fine, but when I got to the shop I found it was making a strange rattling noise now. In the area of the belts and accersory's. I came back into town tried my best to find the problem but the noise isn't showing now. I'm wondering if anyone else has had weird stuff that just goes away as in such a situation.

Is your car shaking? It may be that the balanse belt snapped. Make sure you check it out well before driving it again.

I would check the balance shaft belt as well. You don't want that tearing into your timing belt and causing more problems that it needs to. Rattling noises can come from anything though. I would check all of your belt's for tightness and all of the bolts holding on the A/C, PS, Alt. Also check the crank pulley to make sure it is tight. After that I would probably take off the timing cover to inspect the belt to make sure nothing did happen. start it up momentarily with the cover off with no alt. or power steering or anything hooked up and check and see that everything looks right. Not to long though since your alt. is not hooked up. If all is well you might have just left a bolt somewhere that was rattling or something like that. I would wait and see if it comes back if that all checks out then stop immediately and see if you can find the rattle.

it was the tightening bolt for the altenator it had poped up when I hit a hard bump
I mean really hard
but it's fixed thanks guys
