Strange High Pitch Noise when at around 3k rpms

Hey guys I havn't posted in a long time but recently I have had this weird problem. Instead of the regular noise of the turbo spooling it is much more high pitched. I can't really explain it but only happens when the turbo starts spooling. My car has like 54k miles and is 99 GST. Do you guys have any idea of what this could be? Thanks in advance.

First off do a boost leak test, also check your BOV make sure it still has a strong spring, and last I can think of off the top of my head is pull the turbo off and make sure it doesn't have too much play in it.

When my rear balance shaft bearing first went, it was a high-pitch noise, then it turned into a loud almost-roar.

Just something to think about --bearings. You can usually tell when its a bearing if you've ever heard one go before.
