Hi,

I recently installed my prosport premium electronic boost and oil temp gauges. I seem to be pulling up to 14psi of boost, but I do not have a boost controller on my car yet. I haven't even removed my WGS restrictor yet either. I tapped the vacuum line that comes off the front driver's side of the intake manifold.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Gauges are usually off by a few psi. You need a map sensor to log to know if it is really running that much boost.

telling you the abbreviation wont help any, manifold absolute pressure aka mdp or manifold differential pressure. Its a way to accurately read boost. Is it spiking to 14 then coming down or holding 14?

Holding at 14psi.. it even spiked to 15 once when the engine was cold.

What mods that I have will raise the boost to 14 psi from teh normal stock 12?

Ok... it seems that when it is cold, it will actually spike up as high as 16.5 psi, but once it warms up it wo't go over 14.

I recognize that the 1g bov can hold mroe boost than the 2g, but from teh reading I have done, I thought that the wastegate would open at 12 psi and prevent the boost from raising higher than 12 psi. Is that not how it is supposed to function?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi...

-New development:
On a drive back from Boston today, there were several occasions when I floored the car (in 5th gear), it immediately spiked up to 20psi and held, and I hit fuel cut. It was spiking up to between 16 or 19 psi (an dheld there) the majority of the time i floored it, but not all of the time. A few times it only spiked to 15 and then lowered back to the normal 13psi.

Whenever it ran over 15psi, the car seemed to hesitate a little or otherwise accelerate a little off from normal... (hard to explain...). I'm guessign I was running lean at that point... no way to know for sure.

I have no boost controller. My profile mods list is accurate (BCS Restrictor removal is the only boost control system mod). I was not logging during the drive.

Anyone know what would cause these symptoms?

Thanks,
Jonathan
