First post woooh! I'm starting my HX35 project this spring and I need a little info. How much power will the stock 1G intake manifold allow, and would I need an aftermarket intake (JMfab, Magnus, etc.) to reach my 400whp goal? I would rather buy a JMfab vs having a stock one extrude honing because it's pretty expensive. Thanks in advance

people go 10's on stock intakes all day long......... you will not have a problem making 400whp on a stock intake

Most intakes hurt your bottom end torque and horsepower, but make up for it in the top end. I did read an article in a magazine about intake manifolds on EVO 4g63's and only 2 of the 10 they tested acutally made more power than the stock mani, and they were like both $2000. Stick to the stock one.

Stock one should be fine with your goals. As for the last comment, on the evos the stock manifold was only competing with the other manifolds when ported, etc. But that work can be done for a few hundred compared to the 1000+$ pricetag of other manifolds. The smaller JMF and Magnus manifolds are decent for the street and will benefit with you more in the top end so it depends on what your using the car for.

Thanks for the help guys! Now one more question. Stock fuel rail capable of moving enough fuel for 400whp? I've already got 1,000cc injectors ordered so I can grow in the future.

You will never make enough power to out flow the stock rail so dont even worry about it. Its one of the few parts you never have to upgrade. We modify the feed and return to accept -8an and -10an but thats only when your looking for power in the 700+ range.

Also you cant compare the EVOs intake manifold to ours. Its a totally different beast and has no play in our cars.
