So I have a friend that works at a machine shop that's gonna do my fp beehive springs and seals.. I drop it off and he starts trying to sell me a valve job and how much it's gonna help my setup.

Is this worth the extra hundred dollars? I'm just off-put that he's a sales man and he is trying to get his foot in the door at a local performance shop (were he's doin it at). Wouldn't cleaning the valve's be enough to get everything in order.

A 5 angle valve job would be good if u were hittin insane horsepower numbers but for street use just a 3 angle valve job would be helpful , not sure of exact percentage of airflow increase into the engine but a 3 angle would be helpful

not knowing what you have for engine management (knowing if you can put all your mods to use) I would say go with the 3 angle unless he is giving you a 5 angle for 100 bucks. If you were racing or something I would say 5 angle but if its just a daily beater street strip type deal rock the 3 angle. Hell, my 500 hp engine has a 3 angle valve job. Make sure the margins etc are cut correctly for a turbo engine (exhaust seats etc need more contact than na engines)

cleaning the valves isn't enough. getting good valve sealing is critical (i have sent several heads back to machine shops after I do leakdown tests to make sure the valves are seated properly) Undercut valves are one of the biggest gains in flow, but if you wanna rock a cheaper valve I would say get the black nitride coated valves from roadrace for 200 bucks and get a good 3 angle valve job and call it a day. Since your asking about this I would GUESS that you haven't fully reached the limits of your setup (properly timed engine, cams degree'd and in phase, plug gaps set properly for YOUR engine, correct plug heat range and the list goes on). Tuning is most of where your power is going to come from, along with making sure the basics are covered, good compression, good plugs, good spark, no boost leaks etc. Also ecu setup, proper afr, not detonating, correct ignition timing etc is where 70% of the power will come from. If your running all the right gear on a 35R, your not going to make power if your running 9.6:1 on pump.

off to put in my wideband in the daily driver now LOL

Well the deal didn't work out any way haha. I just figured a 5 angle would be over my head when i could just stay with the stock 3 angle.
