my brother just called me and he said that while driving to work his car reached 20 pounds of boost...(he hasnt touched the electronic boost controller that comes stock with the car and he has an aftermarket boost guage) now hes also been having problems for a few months where either the cat is really clogged or something is wrong with the turbo system.(higher rpms the car boggs down and bucks)...what is the matter with his GST????

1997 gst has a greddy type s bov and greddy U&LIPs injen intake with kn filter the bov is set to vent to intake the top fitting goes to the intake manifold and the bottom one goes to a t fitting to the boost solenoid. now before any of these mods my bro has had the problem with car bucking sort of when u really get on the gas, his vacuum at idle is about 18-19 and his bosst has always been set to 15 psi
now all the sudden its hitting 20 on his faze boost guage but it sure as hell doesnt feel like 20 feels like 10!!!!!

a bad turbo is going to burn oil not make more boost. Check your the vacuum line on the wastegate like MattnGsx said and see if you can move the actuator arm at all.

Does your car have a mnaual boost controller or an electric one? If it's manual check to make sure your locking nut didn't back out and let the adjusting screw move. If it's not locked down it probably changed your boost setting.

ok we didnt put any aftermarket boost controller on it is that down by the front of the car by the intake????i know thats where we put the t fitting for the boost source when we hooked up the type s bov...probably sounds stupid but id be able to tell if i was looking at it at the time.

i would bypass the boost controller and run the line straight to the wastegate. Than you can be sure that the wastegate isnt stuck and the problem is in the boost controller. If you want i live 30 minutes from you. I can stop by and take a look at it.
