Those little 14b turbos pull pretty nice for being stock, Especially compared to the stock t25 for the 2nd gens. You'll definitely want to go bigger as previously stated, Have fun man.

Actually no. You do not go bigger until you have the right supporting mods. Anything bigger than a 14b can blow your motor. But I guess you have to learn some how. If you search a bit more, you will find a certain someone pulling 12's on the drag strip with a 1g awd talon. MHI does wonders.

Amazing, all the new guys are saying go bigger but not saying do the proper maintance first. They're not saying make sure you have supporting mods to go bigger. It's like they're giving you an open invitation to blowing your motor.

There a key rules to buying a used car, this goes for all cars unless all receipts are provided with the car.

1)Timing belt, pretend like it has never been done and go get your timing belt, tensioner and water pump changed.
2)basic tune up, plugs, wires...what ever. Even change the oil.

Now start with the basics like exhaust and intake and you will see the car start to come alive. I just bought a '90 GS Turbo, its right now getting the timing belt done, valve seals and oil pan resealed. You should be comfortable knowing your car is running properly before upping the power.

Stock 14b but dont under estimate those little turbos you can make decent power with them. I had a 20g but switched back to my 14b until I get it rebuilt and set up for an external wastegate and wow the spool is a lot faster haha. It is really fun beating this little stock turbos to their limit since they are dirt cheap and plentiful these days.

14b it is. the 16g's impellers are diferent they are spaced more and kinda overlap alittle. i run a 16g it is alot better then the t25 i had hehe.

aha but is spooling slower or not?I blow my old t-25 and didn't know what kind to buy and bought the same but new cost me 485$ before 1,5 year and now i want to buy 16g but how to trow this turbo is got 10 000milies and i paid so much

To be honest, i dont feel the boost hit untill after 5lbs, but its just my car. it doesnt run very well. :banghead::banghead: and i cant figure out why..:banghead::banghead: but my buddys sypder on his 16g rips.. spools great

I would get supporting mods first before you upgrade your turbo. That bigger turbo isn't going to produce much boost with bent valves due to a timing belt not getting replace.

Do all your basic maintenance before you begin upgrading as well. I would definitely get hard charge piping and an FMIC as it will hold much better when you begin flowing more air. If you don't feel boost until 5 psi that doesn't sound right to me.....good luck!

Ya, i have been working on getting all the maintenance done, i changed the plug's to E3 dimond fires, just got the gate blue timing belt in and now getting the tool kit water pump and tensioner so i can change out the timing belt. already did the rear end fluid, need to do trans and trasfercase fluids.

but i picked up the car for $1700 with 99000 on it in shocking clean and well matained condition!
thanks for ponting out that it is a 14b:)

I'd recommend just running the regular NGK copper plugs. They really are the best for our car.

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention that you should ALWAYS do the necessary upgrades and maintenance in my previous post. I'm relatively new so forgive my mistake. Best of luck to you with which ever upgrade you decide to go with if any at all.

yep 14b is a stocker. Not a bad turbo though. I heard of a all stock awd running 13 at the track with a open down pipe, you would only be able to run like 15 pounds on a stock car before hitting fuel cut, but still 13 isn't to bad for having a all stock car. LOL...

Get the E3 plugs out of your car now. Buy a set of NGK BPR6ES. They're the best plugs for our cars. Do not believe all the hype the guy behind the counter at Autozone tells you about platinum/iridium/fourteen-pronged spark plugs.

i don't ask or listen to any body in any of the part stores. the E3 plugs have been dyno provin and they also had an episode about then on horsepower tv were they also tested them. has any one here ever tried them? my car seems to be running a bit better then the ones that were in there witch were ngk's, not sure if they were copper core's or not. my gas milage is about 25 to 29 per gallon is this normal also?

Right, because you can believe everything you watch on TV....especially if the brand they're testing and showing to make more power is a sponsor of their show.

Anyone remember Splitfire plugs? They were the wave in the early '90s, sponsored tons of racing companies, and ended up going broke when a class action lawsuit was filed because the plugs gave nowhere near the horsepower and fuel mileage increase that the advertisements were claiming.

Buy NGK BPR6ES plugs, the factory recommended plug for our car, and change them every 10k-20k depending on your driving habits. Nothing works better than a standard copper plug under boost.
