Yep that's a 14b. Looks like it's using the t-25's wastegate actuator though. See that rod that is bolted above the compressor inlet? It looks like it comes down and helps hold up the WGA.

so a 14b is a improvment over the t25? it pulls pretty hard at 15psiROFL

and a 16g would bolt right up right? considering the 14b is already there???

and is my j pipe stock or not? looks like its not?
also can someone tell me if my intercooler pipe going to the TB is stock?
just like to figure out what im rolling with,LOL the kid i got it from only had it for 8,000 miles and didnt do/know anything about it,other then he had replaced the trans and clutch at the dealership,LOL

Yes a 16g will be a bolt-on affair. That pipe that is behind your fusebox is not the stock pipe. But the rubber piece from there to the TB is stock. You need to recirculate that BOV!!

sweet, and yes i know about the BOV..im working on that,LOL
so just curious how do you guys know thats not the stock t25?
how much boost is a 14b good for?
and it takes a little bit to get it spooling but when it does it goes, only imagine it with a big 16g.
gonna get a FMIC asap and new downpipe exhaust.
any recomendations/link to a complete turbo back/catless exhaust? that wont kill me $$ wise? rather buy it as whole setup then peicing it together!

The t-25 has an elbow on it that points down and to the passenger's side. It also has stepped blades on the compressor wheel like the 16g but the 14b does not.

Here is a pic of a t-25:

Your turbo will be good for a little over 16psi. The most cost effective ways to have a full exhaust is to have one made at a muffler shop. I have had my best work done at some mom and pop shops.

cool thats what im running now 15 to 16psi,with 550 injectors and 255 pump, seems like its running rich
need to get a safc2 as well,LOL the $$ we spend on our cars,LOL

Yeah, part of being a car guy though. Looks like you have plenty of room to grow with that 16g using a 255 and 550's.

ANOTHER DUMB QUESTION,LOL
is it normal for the turbo xs BOV to be loose? i mean the 2 peices?
i can wiggle around the top peice,no matter if i tighten the set screws as hard as i can?
is this normal?

well it has the adapter to keep it at 90 degress to clear the hood, and no i dont think its leaking ,just weird i can wigle it on the adapter peice?
anyone here running the turbo xs?

ok,im planning on going with a FMIC kit that uses the 1g dsm flange, any suggestions?
on a good sounding BOV? that will hold boost?

I'm running a Greddy on my 1g. Holds pretty much all the boost you can throw at it, and nice crisp sound.

/\ it wont say dsm on the pipe, it has to be made to hold a greddy (or a crushed 1g its 2 different types) from what i have seen go with a crushed 1g if money is in short supply picked up fairly cheap or find one for a greddy and get a new pipe with flange if you have money to spend.... person pref. it ssq bov personally love the sound

Completely spaced that you have a 2g, He's right about the DSM pipe. HKS is another great option. Most any of the name brand BOV's will hold great. Youtube for an idea on the sound you will get.

1) Check the timing belt to see if it is on it's last legs or not. If it is, get the timing belt as well as the balancing belt changed with all the necessary components. Post 4
2) You will most likely have to change all the fluids on the car to make sure you are not running sludge in the place of actual liquids.
3) Boost leak test your car to see if there are any boost leaks that can cause performance, as well as general running condition, problems. How to do a boost leak test can be found below on the VFAQ site.
4) Do a compression check on all 4 cylinders to make sure everything is in running condition internally.
5) You also need to recirculate the BOV because that is affecting your performance.
6) Read your butt off on this site, as well as the VFAQ site for these cars.

All of these are more important then further modifying the car. But:

You will need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator for the 255 fuel pump. And some sort of fuel controller (such as an AFC and a logger) to get your fuel trims inline for those 550's. Because having a tune that is too rich will not only affect your performance, but it can also be enough that it is washing the cylinders down and then mixing with your oil.

General maintenance is the first rule when you own a used car. These cars are no exception. So instead of trying to find out what boost a 14b is good for, make sure your car can take it and you understand what you are doing.

Good luck, and happy boosting :dsm:
