Well my stock rebuild on a budget has turned into a money pit. I was expecting to spend maybe 1400 and have it done by the end of august. Wow was I wrong. So far I have put about 800 into machine work (see this thread), and about 350 in a few parts. I have the piston rings (how do I install these if they're oem? Just get a ring expander and pop them on or what?), and the oil jets (those just punch in, correct?). I have king main and rod bearings on order too. The car is an absolute mess right now. I started taking the fenders off and front bumper so I can patch the strut tower rust and it seemed like every fricking bolt I tried to remove broke. Now I have to deal with fixing that :ohdamn:. All the parts and pieces of the car and motor have been sitting in a pile for months now. I'm afraid that when I go to put it all back together I'm not going to remember where it all goes because it's been so long.

I'm not giving up though, dsm's weed out the weak. I've only got one other way of transportation, my motorcycle, until it gets too cold to ride that. Then I'm f'ed. So hopefully I can get it running again before that. Here's some pics of the workplace as of now.

looking good. just dont give up you will be happy when its done.

and oil jets use a banjo bolt to hold them in and as far as piston rings go you dont realy need a ring expander to install then on the piston just becarefull not to twist or break them. and when you put them in the block use a ring compressor.

I'm not sure I know what you mean with the banjo bolt? It seemed like they were just pressed in?

ok thanks a ton man, I have been searching all over for that answer ;)
