Here is a quick story my factory oil gauge when at idle is almost at L. But when I start driving in goes back up to the normal range. I looked at the owners manual and from what I read that is supposed to be normal?

2nd Q. Now 2 days later it does not move at all and just stays stuck at L no matter how I drive or for how long. I figure maybe it's the sensor? And before anyone asks. Yes I checked the oil everything is normal and nothing is leaking. Thanks.

Happened to me once on a long drive, hundred miles from nowhere. Check the wire to the oil pressure sending unit down by the oil filter. My wire came unclipped. I put it back on and wire-tied it in place. DSM's are known for low pressure at idle.

u know what toojung2die. I just put on my power steering pump belt last night and we where down there putting the pullies on to. I bet I caught it on something. I'll check in the am first thing. Thankz I'll let you know what happens. So the pressure is supposed to go that low at idle then climb up when you rev the motor up or drive?

Yes, that's an oil pressure gauge, not an oil level gauge. When the engine is under load, oil pressure rises.

Short version, it's supposed to do that. Continue using the dipstick to check your oil level, as usual.

I used to think my pressure gauge was reading low during idle but from what I've read around here it's normal to be near the bottom of the scale during idle and halfway up the scale or a little higher when driving. Hope you solve the dead gauge problem as easily as I did. Easy is good, I like easy.

Yup the wire came unclipped. Thanks guys everything is back to normal. I love this board!!!!! :thumb:
