stock boost gauge doesnt work.

I just got this car. The boost gauge does not even move. are these electric or mechanical? Where is its sending unit or connection to boost?
 
The stock gauges are total pieces...they are electrnic guesses at what the oost actually is. I know there are some articles on here explaining exactly how they operate. I purchased a vacuum controlled gauge and the difference is normally at least 3 lbs.
