This is just an idea i was thinking of. I dont know if anyone has done it, but would it be possible to take a 95 gst turbo apart, bore it for ball bearings, and rebuild. And possibly even go with a bigger compressor housing. I have a spare oem with shaft play that needs to come apart anyway so i was thinking of experimenting ;)

Ill look into it. And im also about to crack that baby open. Never been into a mitsu before. One question. It has garrett stamped on the exhaust housing but i thought all 2g stock turbos were mitsu

"The truth is the Mitsubishi turbo's are reverse engineered from the Garrett turbo's. The Garrett T3, T2, T4 are based off of designs from WWII era that were used on Airplanes (they were horrible at high altitudes). The technology is old but proven. The first mas produced car that actually had a turbo used was a Oldsmobile Jetfire V8, and then the Chevy Corvair a year later in 1962. The V8 used a Garrett Turbo, 10.25:1 CR, and water methanol injection to cool the charge so it would not knock"

This was taken from a post back in 2009 where they had discussed this issue.

So if they are reverse engineered that would mean they each have a clone. So you can't go wrong which ever way. After all if it wasn't for Garrett Turbo chargers, WW2 would still be going on with Japan...Just a little aviation fact there to think about.........

No the stock 2g turbo is a Garrett. Only 1g's came with Mitsu turbo's from the factory.

That was almost 70 years ago. I think there might be some differences between the MHI and Garrett turbos now days. Needless to say, I wouldn't use a Garrett rebuild kit on an MHI turbo.

I appreciate the input. This isnt my first time with turbos but my first turbo dsm so i was definitely not sure. I just like the idea of building something noone else has instead of going with a 16g
