Stock Flywheel or Fidanza? Based on high mileage of 250000KM, Is It Worth It??

I PM a few people asking this particular question & someone told me that maybe I should make a New Thread of it! Sorry if this post has been already posted, I haven't been able to find anything on it! Maybe I didn't try hard enough!

I have a high mileage 1G AWD TSI & my clutch went as there has probably been no work done to the clutch! I have come to the conclusion that since I wont be upgrading it in the near future that it would be Perfect to go with the ACT 2100 Replacement Kit! However due to the high mileage & me wanting to upgrade for more HP I am uncertain whether it would be worth changing the stock flywheel for a Fidanza!? Read plenty on the flywheels and clutch kits!!

Basically! 250,000KM
Needs new clutch! ACT 2100 Including Release fork pivot TO/B
Flywheel!? Optional...Machined or Order new Fidanza?
200 dollar difference between possibly better performance!?

Risk of my motor giving out soon?? Is the debate I guess im having!?:ohdamn:

Again, sorry if I have re posted something that has been up for more time than this! I will take the time to look more defined next time! Without a doubt! I'm just in a bit of a rush to find out the info needed so I can make a decision!
Thanks for your time! :)

Do it, A lightweight flywheel will actually help engine life. but if your engine was to unfortunately say goodbye, then selling the flywheel is an option, or use it with the engine swap/rebuild

Still haven't decided? ACT 2100 Clutch with a street disk, OEM TOB, Fidanza aluminum flywheel. I have been using that set up for the past 6 years, from a 130 hp N/T up to my current ~300 hp turbo setup and its still going strong.

Read this link if again if you still aren't sure about the aluminum flywheel: RRE's Clutch And Flywheel Tech Info

Aluminum flywheels, while made out of high strength aluminum, have a steel friction surface that can be replaced when you do your next clutch job. Typically they do not get resurfaced.
A stock flywheel weighs in at about 19 lbs. Our lightened stock ones are 14 to 14.5 lbs. That 5 lbs alone is enough to feel a difference. Aluminum flywheels weigh 9 lbs for DSMs. Now you are talking. You are using less power to spin the flywheel and now have more power available to move your car down the road.

Lots of people freak out about any "theoretical" negative drivability issues with lightened flywheels. They are wrong, it's all good. They are not too light for street use, they won't break apart, they are stepped correctly for ACT and CFDF clutches, On a 80 hp honda you could go too light, but not on anything with enough power to pull the skin off pudding. You will have to compensate a little in your launching technique, a little higher launch rpm will be necessary. Your shifts will be better with the engine rpm now better matching the next gear. These are SFI certified.

I've had my fidanza flywheel for 4 years now I think. So far so good. No problems here. If you are going to do your clutch. Then might as well do your flywheel. If you are afraid that your engine is going to break any second now, then why even bother with the clutch! I mean, you are just wasting money since your engine will die tomorrow.
In all seriousness, just do it and be done with it!!! If your car breaks next week, then at least you drove your car with the lightened flywheel and know how it feels!! That should at least give you some satisfaction!LOL

Thank alot for all your guys opinions! I think ill just go with the Fidanza and ACT 2100 kit! Not sure where to look for those OEM parts but im sure ill find out where soon enough! I'm ordering the parts from JNZtuning! Anyone else have any better ideas for DSM parts particularly closer to Canada! haha! :p

I'm hoping that if i spend the money to order and install nothing will happen im just curious suspicious that it could is all considering the high KM!
It still runs Strong tho! Thanks alot guys! While im at it ill ask JNZ if they got the OEM Bearing! N order that instead! thanks again! :thumb:

If you are doing the Fidanza flywheel dont forget to research the bolts issue and determine for yourself if you want new ones or not. According to information i researched about this not too long ago, some aluminum flywheels/some people have had issues with the flywheel bolts coming loose because aluminum is softer or the thickness is different from OEM flywheel. Anyways i want to say the fix was a spacer ( flexplate spacer i think?) and longer bolts to accommodate. Some people teused bolts and were fine, some were not so personal preference, just thought I would mention the topic. Also, thread lock is your friend.
