stock civic smoked 13 psi laser

WTF my buddy raced me in his stock eg civic that has a d16 sohc vtec and for some odd reason he passed me i own a 1990 plymouth laser rst with an eprom ecu and set at 13psi everything else is stock and all the problems that i know is wrong with my car is an exhaust leak before my cat and a check engine light that goes away after every time i shut my car off i was told it was a maf sensior. does any one have any ideas?

I good civic with a healthy D16Z6 can run anywhere from high 14's to 15's. If your Laser isn't up to par with it's bolt-ons let alone its maintenance, you'll have a hard time.

Yeah I have Intake, Exhaust, MBC and Gauges in my car. Set at a solid 13 PSI. I have no problems with N/A Civics anymore . 40k on my healthy 6bolt 4g63 though.

I have owned about 5 of those motors, 2 of them were nicely built. They are really slow, so if you are getting beat by him and its stock, you have some serious issues with your car that need to be addressed. Any turbo car should in every way be faster than a stock d16.

the only problem is that when i got my car couple weeks ago i did a full tune up replaced everything my stock 2g eclipse 420a was side by side with his car it just blows my mind that he passed me

If your MAF actually is bad, that could def. be the reason he beat you.

I don,t know what,s wrong with your laser but 91 fwd smokes those vtec cars even with the tires burning off the start . .what type of turbo on it .13b or 14b .

If it's an auto it has a 13g, manual 14b. 13g's are good turbo's just small. I have 2 of them on my stealth off of first gen dsm's. My highest trap was 117 on 110 octane, so i can't imagine a car with one of them going very fast.

Do a boost leak test and check your maf according to the chilton's manual. 1Gs are waaaay faster than stock civics, i don't care what motor they have in them. Anyway start with the MAF since you've already been told it's bad, then do a BLT. Either way it sounds like your air/fuel ratios are off. Could even be a o2 sensor.
