1G Stock car is lobbing?

Hello my stock 1991 tsi is lobbing like its cammed but its completely stock. The smog guy says its a misfire which is causing me to not pass smog, ive replaced the plugs with no outcome. Anybody know whats going on?

Well at least check wires and perform basic diagnostics.

Check for boost leaks, make sure your timing is on point. could be ignition coil or power transistor but Im just speculating. Is your check engine light on? if it is you probably have code p0300 which is random misfire, just type that code on the search option and read, there will be different things to check when you have a misfire or random misfire. Could possibly be an injector issue also.

no no check lights on,i think it may be a fuel problem also because if it were a spark issue it would give a check engine, ill try to clean out the injectors and maybe fuel filter? spark plugs are good no cracks or sparking when in the dark. its weird because when anybody hears my car they think its cammed, is there a way for me to check if it is cammed and will that show as a misfire when getting smogged?

Unless is very aggressive cam, I dont think it should lobe like that, I could be wrong. But normally 272 cams are not supposed to lobe. Someone please correct me if Im wrong.

What does loping mean exactly?
loping is when your engine raises and lowers rpms on its own without touching the throttle

Just to throw one more thing out there, my gst used to sound like it loped when I had an exhaust leak between the head/manifold. Idk if that would cause you to fail smog or if it could even be your problem but figured ide mention it.

The same thing is happening on my 98 eclipse gs. It doesn't do it all of the time and sometimes hesitates when accelerating. I have never had my cel come on. I have tried replacing the plugs, wires and coil, but nothing is helping. Anyone have an idea what it could be?
