hehe kinda dumb question but whats stock boost on my car? just wondering if its worth it to install a boost controller and gauge without bov thats all. thanx

Oh ok, I remeber you now :D I just needed to put a name to the user name on tuners... ANyhow I loved the vid you made! You shoudl join us at the even, the more dsm's the merrier. My motor is finally broken in from the last time I saw you. I went and ran it just for shits and giggles and did a 13.0@105 so Im hoping that when I get my turbo Ill be ready to go to the import vs. domestic and you know what...
 
If daveidle wants a fast and ferious car let him have it =)

p.s. I hope to god you didnt bolt that commando lookin wing to your stock wing, did you forget to take off the stock wing?

First of all, clc, i take back what I said about your mom. Didn't know she is buried okay. So i'm squashing it. Plus, us DSM's are supposed to be on the same side, we only do this to hoduh's.
And for my wing, of course its not bolted to the stock spoiler, I just set it up there to have a glimpse of what it looks like when its on. The spoiler is now red and I took off the stock one. I'll have updates pics soon after I get my wheels in which are 18's. Too bad the comments arent' in the gallery anymore, becuz thats when I explained that my spoiler isnt bolted on.
 
candela, why would u spend so much money on ricey bigger rims? they don't make your car any faster! you oughta know that. And they are ugly anyways. you have some horrible taste. You should sell them to some shmuck before u can't get a penny out of them.

Not meaning to jack your post but what is the stock boost then? I have a '96 TSi AWD and the only mods i have are a 3" dejon and an autometer boost gauge ( only had the car three weeks ). When i looked at my boost levels, i wondered the same questions. I still have the pos plasitc bov. My boost will stay constant at 13 and even sometimes 14. It will spike to 15 but only when i punch it. Any ideas?

I have the exact same stuff you do, including the plastic pos bov, and the highest my boost will go to is 11psi. Pretty soon here I will be getting a diff. bov and fuel pump to turn my boost up. I already have the joe p mbc waiting to be installed when I get the stuff I need. Yours already show 13-14? wow.
 
Wierd... wonder if it has anything to do with Talon and Eclipse? I never thought there was anything other than physical exterior differences. I was never sure about the "stock" boost level. I'm still not. I get a different answer everywhere i go. I've never had a turbo car before and i don't know what to expect. Just idling, i run at 20 vacuum. Then when i hit it, it goes up to 13-14 psi. I have no clue. My next steps are going to be a blow off valve and boost controller. Just wondering if my current levels sound right?

When i'm at idle, its at 20 vacuum also. Then when I hit it, it goes to 11psi, no more than that. From what I heard, stock is about 11, and I dont think Talons' should be any different. Maybe somebody did the free mod on your car before you bought it, that should boost you up a couple psi's.
If not, maybe you got a leak, so check it out.
 
You'll have to excuse my ignorance, i'm new to dsm's and turbos altogether. But which "free mod" or you talking about? Also how would a leak give me ma higher pressure reading? Not to sound like a smart a$$, cause i myself don't know any of this.

Ok, I installed a boost gauge last night...now I have a few questions

First the car is stock except for a K&N drop in, and removing the silencer from the LICP.

My boost spikes and holds at 14, and slowly settles down to around 10. Is that right
 
when i first installed my boost guage it would read 10 psi for the stock level too. my mods were a cone intake and 1g BOV and removed BCS.
 
The reason for the drop is due to the T-25 or T toooooo small. I have never heard of someone being able to hold a bar or so all the way to redline on a T-25, but all cars are different and behave differently. I will spike to 1.3 then settle at 1 till it starts dropping alittle after 6K. Verified by both a autometer mechanical that develope a internal leak, and a Greedy electronic that cost too much, but if you can not see the needle move on a 60mm gauge fromthe car next to me you have to be blind, The size different between the 2 are amazing. Sorry got off topic.
 
I'm boosting .95h KPA ~ 13.77 PSI in my stock 97 GST. Wondering if that's actually the stock boost for a 2g car, or if it's low. What reading have the rest of you had before mods?

that sounds about right,stock BOV won't hold any more than that usually.
