hehe kinda dumb question but whats stock boost on my car? just wondering if its worth it to install a boost controller and gauge without bov thats all. thanx

with my meager mods and no aftermarket BOV i am hitting 14 (cant go any higher then that b/c our 2g BOV's suck!)

At what psi do stock gsx run from the 95 year. I have an old Road & Track mag from 95 that actually had my car on the cover. I read it and said that thry run 14.1 psi stock!!!!! I found that really high for stock, do they run that? Also what is an excepted 1/4 mile time for a stock 95, the mag said 15.4 sec which I thought was also bonk.

Well it depends on the car truthfully. Usually they run anywhere from 12-as high as 15 stock. Ive seen 2g's put a uip and bov on and run 15psi with no boost controller at all. I guess ti all depends cause dsm's are weird like that. Anyyear gsx runs around a 14.9-15.4, and theres always the guys whom drive great and bang the gears and get lower times n stuff, but these are the most common time Ive seen. I ran 15.2 in mine....

Everything candela said is right.

My 96 AWD was 14psi stock.
One of the big factors on 2Gs is the stock
BOV. Even with a boost controller, I
was not able to go over 14psi because
the stock BOV would leak. Got a 1G
BOV, and the car performed much better.

Every car is different, and thats the bottom line. There are soo many thing that need to be taken into account before you can say something like that. Boost is different in different settings, weather, climate elevation, what type of intercooler is run etc. etc... I know t25's ahve made pretty decent power at around 18psi, but I cant imaging them making much more after that even with a FMIC. Boost falls off at high rpm with them, and they arent very efficient at high boost levels. Other turbos can be run so efficiently at higher levels that the amount of boost run is usually dependent on the motor itself. My comepletly untouched 6 bolt has done great with 20+ spi on it many times....Im sure some others will have input as well

the 15.4 is actually somewhat accurate for a professional/skilled driver...
the stock boost on a 4g63turbo engine is set at 12 psi...however with a boost controller you can up that to about 18 without hurting the engine too much...again i wouldn't reccomend it because it is a good way to blow the engine...

I put a K&N on, A 1g bov (spikes to 16 and drops to 14 on a normal night) and ran a 14.5!

I heard the 2g varies with stock boost. from 10-15 i want to say. There is a thread about 2g's stock boost levels.

I just installed an aftermarket boost guage in my 96 GSX. In about the 4 - 5,000 rpm range, i'm showing about 12lbs of boost. Is this right for everything being stock?

Sweet. Exactly what I needed to know. I didn't realize they ran that much boost stock. Guess I need to go out and get an mbc to bump her up a little bit.

I thought stock boost for 2g is 13-14psi and on a 1g stock boost is 11-12psi. I could be wrong though. I forgot where but I read it somewhere.

i was always told that stock boost on a 2g t25 was 12.9 lbs, but not sure....i tookout the lil ristrictor thing in my stock boost controller anyway so i should be running 1-2 lbs over but i dont have a pod for my gauge so the gauge isn't in the car...

I got 14 lbs when my car was stock, as it should. With the BCS mod it was 15 lbs. Also, my car would hold 15 psi to 7k (dropping from wherever I set it) but that doesnt seem to be the norm for these cars. Maybe because I checked for and fixed boost leaks every few weeks...
