I searched it and I see it may be a possibility that my cd's simply aren't compatible with the cd player - which I'm not sure if I have any old cd's to try.

I just bought a 93 eclipse and it has the factory radio and cd player.

If I put in a CD, it takes it and reads it for about 20 seconds. Then across the display it just reads Track 00 Time: 00:00:00 and just flashes for about 20 seconds until finally spitting the cd back out.

Does anyone know if this is just a signal of a dead cd player, or just not reading it? One of the CD's I tried was brand new as well.

I might when I get home see if I still have my black sabbath cd from like 98 hahaha.

The stock cd player in my 96 wouldn't play most my burnt cds (which is all I have since my last car had an mp3 deck). So I swapped it out with the cd player from my old car and all was well.

It could be that it just can't read CDRWs. I have had older decks that wouldnt. I very rarely use CDs anymore. Most decks these days have a USB connection that I just plug my iPod into. Screw looking through hundreds of CDs to find one u want to listen to.
